yeah now i know what are they but my guinea pig doesnt like them:P

Where do you live? What type of food is he on at the moment?

If you are looking to change his diet it might be worth doing so gradually given his young age, you wouldn't want to upset his tummy!

A Pellet or Nugget is usually a food of uniform shape, size and colour. The idea being to help prevent Piggies from selective feeding and therefore getting the full range of nutrients that a Pellet or Nugget offers.

Muesli or Mix type foods are also popular for Piggies and are fine so long as your Piggy eats all of the food in the bowl. Problems can occur when they select their favourite bits and leave the rest, which is why many people prefer Pelleted or Nuggeted dry food.

My Piggies were on muesli but the vet told me it was too rich for them, now they're all on pellets. They didn't like them at first but now they love it! :))

hmmm...that is what mine is doing now. I watched her pick out the dried carrot bits and Cheerio-looking things and leave the pellet parts alone.

That's how I read it too Chez.

My 2 have always been on pellets. I tried try on muesli but it lasted one day as they just ate the bits they wanted to. They've never been fussy with pellets, they've eatten whatever I've put down to them.

Says there you didnt know what they were and wanted to know what they look like. must have got it wrong. never mind

not from UK omg in every thread theres a person who needs to correct me!
anyway my guinea pig doesnt eat pellets now so much its kinda hard for him to eat it:P ive got mix food it has pellets and other kinds of stuff but he eats something and rest leaves:(

wow there's no need to be rude. if you contradict yourself so obviously when someone tries to help of course it's going to be noticed.

it's normal for pigs to have favourite bits in mixed food. mine don't eat all of it, they leave the little yellow bits. i don't understand what other help you're looking for. do you want an alternative to both pellets and mixed food?

thank you Gracie i found that rude aswel. I was trying to help you with my answer. Its not got anything to do with correcting you its to do with being able to answer your questions. If you ask a completely differnt question to what you mean theres no way anyone can help you on here.

I'm confused too!

If you are worried about the piggies leaving the pellet part try switching to a different food which is all pellets as there are different types available. In my limited experience I have found my piggies only like certain brands of pellets. I have tried them on
3 brands and they will happily eat 2 brands but will not eat the other brand.

Why is it hard for him to eat pellets? Is there something wrong with his teeth? My pigs weren't to keen on the idea of pellets at first but I just used to mix them in with the muesli and they got used to them. Now its all that they eat.

I actually think Squeakzz didn't understand the word 'pellets', but when you put the pic of them on, they realised, in a kind of 'Oh yes, now I know!'. I don't think anyone was being rude- just a language barrier thing. x

Have just read the other posts Chez, I see what you mean.

Squeakz, this forum is a very friendly one and people are not meaning to be 'killing you' when they correct you. We appreciate that it's hard learning another language but also in my own experiences of learning French, Spanish and German, I have been happy for people to correct me as it's an important part of learning. Also it's important for us to check that we've understood you correctly.

I think if you put in your location on your profile this may help people to understand why some of things you have said might not make a little sense at first and we can try to work it out. Just something to try to help you.
