I rang about a free to a good home female pig today as the lady who wrote the ad said her cagemte had just died and so she was going free, she hoped that someone would take her on and find her a friend. I had a worry that someone would go get the girl and cage and keep her on her own so I rang.

Turns out the cagemate had been put to sleep today because of a problem with it's eye that needed an operation and as it was not worth it they were put to sleep!

Just made me really sad - a simple op - even an eye removal and she could have lived for ages - she was only 2! It made me think of Sinbad and his op and he's so good now.

Also - when the pig arrived here at the rescue she is a HE - and I expect the other one was too as there were no babies. How come she didn't know that she had males? How had the vet not told her?

The pig that arrived I am not sure if he has naturallybulgy eyes or a condition - I am goin watch closely next day or so. Sinbads eye issue was caused by teeth problems apparently - these two came with no hay so I am thinking maybe he has over grown teeth. A vet check in the next few days may tell me that - going to see if he starts eating hay

Anyway people make me cross - what a waste of a life, it's costly so kill it.:(

Yeah, people can be so mean!
Why have a pet, if you dont want to care for it!
I know that times are hard, but theres always help somewhere.

that is so sad, whats the point of having a pet if you not going to look after it properly.would do anything for my lovely girls as I'm sure all you guys out there would

oh my GOD I would have lamped this person when they brought the pig along AAAAARGHHH!:)>>>:)>>>:)>>>:)>>>

Honestly if one of mine needed an op I would sell everything I owned to pay for it. There is always something you can do.

I just wish I had got hold of the other one before they were put to sleep. I hate knowing about stuff like this, makes me really sad :(

i would too, everything. Poor thing, hopefully it wasnt aware that it was a 'costly' thing 8...

I know it is so sad, and the poor thing didn't even have any hay to eat.8...

But you're going to help his brother and that is brilliant Lisa. Unfortunately you can't save them all but you can make the lives of the ones that you do save extra special x

That's so sad, thankfully the little fellow that is with you will get all the love and care from now on.

Have you named him yet?
Keep us updated wont you, and maybe a picture or two once he's settled in :):)p

Me and OH both had a bit of a mutter when reading this. Poor little things. Glad he is safe with you now.

Thankfully you got one; a pity it was too late to save his mate!

SOME people... :)>>>:)>>>:)>>>

We'er in 100% agreement, its all to easy to put a pet down.

You would'nt do it to a relative, so why to a pet!.

And as we all know a pets not a pet, but a member of our familys.

So pleased that he's safe now, with you.

Poor little thing never had a chance with an owner like that! I'm so glad this little man has a nice person to look after him now :) If anything ever happened to my piggies I couldn't have them pts knowing there is another way!

In September my first piggy either had to have his eye removed or be PTS, we didn't need to think twice! Unfortunatley, he was a rescue pig and we didn't know his age so knew there was a risk, he was such a strong piggy though everyone thought he would pull through. It wasn't mean't to be :0 some people make me sick, I would of done anything for him to be ok :(
