He's on half a capsule of of cystease once a day
& 5 drops of Metacam a day which I think is 0.25ml, that I split into two doses over the day.
X

Do you know what dose that is in mg? I think 1 capsule may be 125mg so that would be half of that which is low. The metacam is low too, he could have almost double that a day. What is his weight?

Ugh, I'm so sick of this. My own vet is off for 9 months and the other vets always give really low doses and I have to be really sneaky with how I word things to leave happy.
What cystease dose is effective?
He weighs 1,300g, so he's a big boy.
Would 0.2ml twice a day be better?
I'll phone the vets tomorrow and ask them to try him on a higher dose.

P.s, I've no idea the mg in a capsule they don't say anywhere or even on the history printout or reciept :/

Yes twice a day would be better, even 0.2ml twice a day which tends to be my standard dose for pain reiief. JUst googled Cystease and the Glucosamine dose in 1 capsule is 125mg and so he is on half the dose that I would usually recommend. Amy is actually on double that but it is Glucosamine tablets not Cystease.

OK, right, I'm definitely phoning the vets in the morning then.
I'll keep you updated.
Thank you so much for everything Helen.

@helen105281
I phoned the vets, hes been on a full capsule a day, split into two doses.
& 0.2ml of metacam twice a day.
he's been on this for 5 days now, so far, so good.
But i've caught him doing some very mushy watery poo in his hay tray today, so ill need to keep an eye on that.

Great you have seen an improvement. Mushy poo is not a side effect I have seen before though. Has he eaten anything new?

@helen105281 All has been good today. The cystease is working great, but it's definetily doing something to his digestive system, hes doing small poops, broken poops or soft mushy poops sometimes, which has never happened before, He's happy and comfortable though and I'm not too worried. I always have probiotics, metoclopramide & gripe water on stand by lol.
Thank you so much for your advice n stuff the past while, it's saved me alot of back and forwards from the vets with the pigs and i've been able to just speak to them over the phone and pick up scripts, which has made things easier!
I made a wee vid the other day when we got home shattered from all our family dramas ;)

Sorry I didn't comment yesterday, been stuck in bed with the office lurgy. That's such a lovely video and I love the little bed. Wonderful to see the pigs close up too. Glad Stanley is doing ok wee wise, not come across a funny tummy with Cystease before, if it continues you could always try Vegan Glucosamine and see how he does on that. It has 1 less ingredient.
