When you guys give peppers, does it matter what colour? I HATE peppers so have no idea about which is which and why! Also do you chop them up and remove the stuff from inside or just let them have fun trying to work out why it rolls away from them.

Mine have all colours, but yellow seems to be their least fave. I chop it up and remove pips. Don't think they can eat the pips but someone may know if this is true and why. xx

I read somewhere that the preference is for green peppers, no idea why and not tried mine with them yet. I would remove the seeds personally

Green and red peppers are a bit more of a favourite to yellow, but mine eat all colours!

Please remove the stem and pips.

My hands will stink, I have a pure hatred for anything peppers, but if pigs like them will do it for them. I have five pigs per hutch, so I was thinking I might cut the top off, scoop out the inside and throw it in there whole, so they can play with it too, might even fill it with hay just for added pleasure. If that doesnt work and they cant work out what this green ball is, I will chop it up. What you think?

Mine always favour red over any other colours...funny if you have a light coloured piggy, my Nova gets "pepper juice" all over her white chin! And yes, like everyone has said, remove the seeds and the stem, but the rest is fine :)

My old piggies wouldn't touch peppers, but we had stirfry (lazy ready made pack) last night and I fished a handful out for the piggies before
I cooked it, and that had all three colours in and they wolfed it down.

Oh dear, all 10 of mine are white :))

Mine used to hate peppers when they were younger but now they go mad for them. Green is definately the favourite but they will eat red or yellow. They can smell them a mile off! Lots of wheeking in our house when the fridge opens now....

I think the colour thing is just to do with the fact most of their fresh food is generally green. They do eat coloured veg like carrots etc but most things, cucumber, broccoli, cabage, lettuce, beans, celery ( a particular favourite) etc are all green. Maybe a familiarity thing?

Maybe it's like smarties used to be and the yellow ones (orange smarties) taste different?!

They do taste slightly different :) The green ones are more bitter, and the red are much sweeter. I'm pretty sure it's how ripe they are, obviously if they're not too ripe (green) they'll be bitterer then the more ripe (yellow-red) ones

Also, you need to remove the pithy/membrande white stuff & the pips, as these are realllly bitter.

Snuffles used to be scared of the red peppers! Mine love them all but yellow is their favourite :)

Mine also wheek as soon as the fridge door is opened!

One of my piggies just ADORES green pepper, he eats it like spagetti :))
My other three eat it too, I haven't tried yellow peppers with them. I think I read somewhere you have to remove the pips because they could chock on them, not sure how true this is though?

Both of mine like the yellow, then organge and red. Not so keen on the green. They are a bit hit and miss though, sometimes they can't get enough, sometimes they get left. Fickle piggies!

my lot love all colours... they don't have a preference (although the pack i buy tends to always have more reds in) my lot love peppers... but i remove the seeds out of them first.

Green peppers are a great staple veg for guineas as they are high in vit c and have a much lower sugar content than red peppers.

My 3 weren't that interested when I first gave them green peppers but I persevered. They went from leaving them to eating them last to now being one of their favourites. :))
