AlbiePercy
Teenage Guinea Pig
So I think it all started out about a month ago with a small sore on Percy's shoulder. We thought it was a wayward tooth or toe from their bonding process with the two newbies. He went to the vet and had a course of Baytril just in case. It won't heal as it's itchy when the scab occurs so he just scratches it off. He's now scratching at different patches on his back and the same scabbing process is occurring. He's also chewed/licked the fur from his tummy between his front paws. He's been back to the vet since, but the vet was convinced it was Scabies. I treated all 4 pigs anyway, but I really don't think so. None of the other 3 are showing symptoms.
I think the answer lies with making him comfortable so he stops scratching and lets the scabs heal and fall off on their own. But does anyone know how to do this? My nearest cavy savvy vet is around a 4.5 hour one way trip. I'll be going there on Tuesday anyway, and will take him with me if it'll actually help, but I don't want to stress him out for no reason either.
