So last Sunday I found a small pea sized lump under Donalds chin. I had intended to call first thing Monday and get him in the vets either Monday afternoon or Tuesday as I knew the later part of my week was jam packed with meetings and work appointments. However, Monday morning I woke up in excruciating pain and couldn't stand up so I had to go to A&E where I had a lot of pain killers which helped though the pain didn't disappear until the next day. I'm ok now but waiting on an ultrasound to check for gallstones on the safe side.

So it was then Weds and there was no way I was able to get Donald in to the vets before Sunday, I just didn't have the scope within my calendar to rearrange any appointments or meetings. My work is really flexible but I can't abuse it so today we have been to see the vet. The lump has increased a tiny bit in size and there is no substantial or worrying weight loss. We tried several times to get a needle in to check the lump but Donald decided to be very uncooperative. With a bit of local anaesthetic and one of the nurses firm assistance they finally managed to get a needle in and found its full of pus :(

So Monday morning I need to fight with the peak hour traffic to get there for 8:30am for him to be sedated so they can get in to it because its in an awkward place and its going to be marsupialised

What a week :( *hugs* Hope you are feeling better soon and lots of good vibes heading Donalds way for Monday x

Why does LIFE just keep pn doing that? Never one problem to deal with in a week - always multiple problems to deal with.
Glad that you have got over your trip to A&E and hope they can get to the cause of your pain.
Hope you manage your difficult day on Monday and that Donald recovers soon. x Hugs to both.

Blooming heck. These things seem to come all at once, don’t they. Poor Donald. And poor you. Hugs x

Oh no. Lots of happy recovery vibes to Donald and coping vibes to you.

I'm sorry you have had a bad week Kelly.I hope Donalds lump is sorted quickly.one of my piggies had a burst abscess this week, got an appointment next friday at the vets.draining and flushing the hole under his neck twice aday until friday.Gallbladder stones are so painful.xx

(((((Hugs))))))) to you both, what an awful week. I hope you feel better soon and I hope Donald gets all sorted out on Monday xx

Awww poor Donald, maybe his wives will give him a lovely haircut while he recovers. Healing vibes sent to you gorgeous boy. Good luck with your ultrasound @Lady Kelly . I had a ultrasound for a gallstone a couple of months back but it turned out to be a ovarian cyst that was causing all the trouble weirdly enough.

Massive hugs Kelly. It has been a horrible week for you, I do hope it turns for you. Sending love to Donald for Monday, lots of vibes being sent, Hope you are pain free now mate also and the scan comes through quickly. x

Eeks don't say that, my endometriosis has flared up this week as well though I'm sure I won't have any cysts, I just think I'd know if it had reached that stage.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I have had a day of doing absolutely nothing (bar the vets trip). Feeling a touch sorry for myself but I have a few days off work at the end of the week so time to recuperate and relax fully

Here's sending you hugs and I hope you recuperate and start to feel better soon. :luv: x

Well we are packed and set. The carry case with towel and hay is ready, a Tupperware tub with some pellets in, my packed lunch and my work laptop etc. Alarm is set much earlier than normal and the car is filled with petrol. Temporary hospital cage is set up so I can monitor him for the first 24 hours too

Well it seems like you have everything sorted and are very organised! Good luck tomorrow!

Well my vet doesn't want to operate now. They have done a thorough examination and it's nestled next to two major blood vessels and they are not confident in being able to remove everything they need to. They also said that if they x-ray to check his teeth he would need anesthetic to get him to lie in the right position so they don't want to do that as it would mean a second anesthetic in a short time for the op.

I decided that now is the time to test the specialist in Hinckley. They were willing to refer to Northampton but as he would need an anesthetic anyway I decided a 20-25 min drive is going to be preferable to an hour or hour and half (depending on motorway traffic). Luckily I have some annual leave Thurs, Fri and Monday so hoping to get in this week but I would like to be able to take annual leave one day without needing a vets trip

:( Sending you loads of love, at least you know what is going on now. Vibes to Donald, what an absolute nightmare you are having. Please let us know when apt is x

Right well Hinckley couldn't see him til next Wednesday and I can't do that day as I have a conference call at 9:30 and can't risk getting into work late. So we are going to Chine house this Thursday at 10am. Craig's good but I'm not as impressed with their aftercare. I'm a touch worried about taking him there but I don't want to risk pushing an operation back to late next week because knowing my luck it will blow up in the next couple of days. I can't believe this tiny lump is causing so much stress!

:( Oh no... isn't it always the way!

So the vet is good, but not so much the recovery team?

Yes the vet is good, now have two exotic specialists,Bev is very good as well, she is fairly new,but very good and approachable.

We are home safe and sound (the traffic was no where near what I experienced last time). They were a bit concerned about him hiding away all day but he's obviously enjoyed his "me" time in a huge pile of hay judging by the even bigger pile of poops in there! We did his meds then he had a fuss on my lap while he was hand fed pellets (so clearly no problem with his appetite or teeth). He's back with his wives now and giving them a quick reminder of his dashing personality
