My oldest pig Lizzie has bumblefoot. It all started about four weeks ago as it was mild the vet gave me Hibiscrub. Two weeks later with no great improvement so Lizzie was given antibiotics along with the Hibiscrub. Back to the vet today but still not enough improvement and we have run out of ideas. Lizzie is on vetbed and fleece the vet suggested changing bedding but I was wondering if anyone on here has any ideas?

My Nigel and Fuzzy both had it slightly over the years and I was recommended a product called Zymox which was a steroid cream I think. Maybe the vet has something similar they could try? I know not everyone is happy with steroid products. Has she ever had any other health issues? it is just that Bumblefoot in some cases can be one of the symptoms of a heart issue due to the poor circulation.

She has been pretty healthy until now. The vet suggested changing to shavings as bedding but I would have thought that would be bad for sore feet.

i would not use shavings as this can take the oils away from the tender feet.you are using the best bedding vetbed ! i hope it clears up soon.x

Agree with Eileen that shavings would make it worse. Vet bed is definitely the best bedding for her.
