One of my Merino sows, Faith, always has wee stains. She is white at the back end, which doesn't help, but no matter how clean I keep her cage or how much I bath and trim her, she always has wee stains. She must sit right in it every time!

I've just bathed her, again, and although she's clean the staining is still there. I've cut the fur as short as I can. Is there anything I can use to get the wee stains out of her coat? Poor girl! She's never properly clean and I'm running out of ideas!

She's healthy otherwise

i was worried i was the only one it happened to! my Rita is white and she always has a yellow bum. i have tried washing her aswell.

it would be nice if someone can come up with an answer :)

This happens to my sheltie Panda who is also white at the back! It's a right pain, i've cut all her hair off recently to a about a cm long all over and it seems to have helped slightly though the stains from before it was cut are still not fully out! I'd love to know how to get her clean too x

Same here, three of my girls have white bums and they always seem a little stained. Daisy and Charlotte are ok cuz they are shorthaired and you have to look hard but it looks worse on Rosie cuz of her long hair. Even after baths and trims she still looks grubby round her bum. Is there any really good shampoo or ideas or will she forever be a grubby pig?

Cloud has the same problem - I think its because she is quite a laid back piggy (ie lazy!) She is more of a spectator than a participator when it comes down to running around!

I have a set of dog clippers and sad to say I do shave her "derriere". She is a Swiss type so it's pretty important she doesn't matt up "down there". She doesn't mind having it done although I still have to wash her bottom twice a week.

The stain is almost impossible to get out completely but I have found Vetsect shampoo very good.

You shave your pigs, LOL! Was only talking to Vikki about this yesterday. Does she mind the noise? Had considered it with Faith, luckily she's one of the more laid-back pigs!

Yes it does sound rather drastic !

My clippers are really quiet and I put them on for a while whilst she sits on my lap to get used to the noise and then she just lies back.

I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but its all safe and I simply take off the bit that needs doing. They are similar I suppose to those home hairdressing clippers that people shave their hair off with? Its probably safer than using scissors on a wriggly pig. You can control the length of the shave too of course.

I took a particularly matted long hair piggy once and these worked a treat. He had it all taken off in minutes and what was left was then aesy to care for.

I have the clippers because I often rescue Persians and these are nearly all matted when they arrive so need a Lion clip :(|) rather than a "pig clip" LOL

Maybe I will concider some drastic trimming while it is still warm. Wonder what Rosie would think of it rolleyes

My white pig Robin suffered badly with wee stains and then I moved over to washing his back end with Johnsons baby shampoo and that seemed to do the trick no more yellow looking piggie

The shaving idea is quite a good one although I'm not sure he would stand the noise - not a big fan of the hairdryer LOL

I don't have problems with stains, so much as with the hair getting slightly matted around the rear. Delilah and Sophia have very thick hair - the length is not the problem, it is the thickness of that hair.

I trim it short but the *only* thing that stops the hair getting matted is brushing daily; for these girls the hair needs separating rather than shortening!

I'm gonna try clippers on Pola tonight! I can't get the job done fast enough with scissors before she's fed up with me!

As for the wee stains, I have 4 white piggies but only one has this problem!

Just used my brother's razor just like the one above (took the blades off).....worked perfectly. Much faster and definitely safer than scissors!

Lindsecm - Are you going to tell your brother? :(|)

Brownbrummie - I use Johnsons baby shampoo too - it's good for stains in fur, not sure why though?
