Hi All, long time no see.
I am seriously thinking of setting up a guineapig/small pet boarding business.
I am just wondering if anyone here dose it and any tips they are willing to share.
I bought the book ",how to start and run a pet sitting buisness" but its more catered to cats and dogs and my focus would be small animal or maybe reptile.
Anyone kn here do it or know of someone who dose?

Many thanks

Jenny ....and her babies Miranda and Bridget

@Mother Hubbard has recently started one. Perhaps @furryfriends (TEAS) could also help as she runs a rescue.

My questions for a pet sitter would be:
  • Are you able to provide more then minimum space for my piggies, especially if they’re boars?
  • Would they have access to floor time outside weather willing?
  • What Would you feed them?

PS do you also have experience in dealing with piggies on medication long-term? And do you have a trusted vet nearby, who would also be able to/say yes to treating boarding piggies? If the boarding piggies needed vet care would you have the funds to take them and not be left in a bad financial position while waiting for a refund from the slaves? I’m not too sure how that would work actually.

Thank you for both responses.

Yes I have had piggies with :
Thyroid
Heart
Respiratory
Skin issues
Eye
Teeth

All on long term care.

I have 2 vets ...my local vet and my exotic vet whom I use to treat long term conditions ,...John Chitty at Anton Vets.

As for funds...yes I will have a vet fund and that is somthing I am looking into atm.... forms etc

I can’t remember as something has been mentioned before. But I think you need some kind of insurance in place as well...how experienced is the local vet with piggies?

I personally have a wide selection of dry feed including grain free, 3 types of hay and a variety of veggies either daily or twice daily depending on the clients current requests.
