Do any of you have insurance for your piggies?
If so which offer the best cover?
I have 2 9 week old females. Living in the uk.
Thanks :)

There is only 1 insurer in the uk -exotic direct - part of pet plan- £14.50 per pig per month - and £65 excess per condition - my dearly departed Bumble cost me £5000 in just over 2 years - was I glad he was insured!

I looked into it after my first vets bill was £150 ! But I just can't afford that much a month for two pigs... I know the insurance is so worth it when they get ill though ... its one of those catch 22 situations isnt it? x

I run a small rescue for special needs /high maintenance pigs, and when l explored insurance many years ago , the companies
Respectful told me that most of my pigs were uninsrurable. So l started what l call my piggy fund, .

I looked at previous years vet bills and estimated the the amount of money l would need to deposit into a separate savings account, that was exclusively for vets bills , and would be used for nothing else !

This method of putting money aside for for veterinary bills has served me quite well over the years , and more often than not,
my piggy fund has covererd all my veterary expenses

I have a savings account for vet bills, etc, too, I personally would rather do this as I know I have the money there instead of trying to get an insurance company to pay out if something happens.
