So was looking after my cousions yesterday.
There 4,6,7.
They adore looking at all my animals especially the guinea pigs, I needed to get a new filter for my fish tank.
So we went up to the petshop.(Big Mistake) There was this male guinea pig in there. All on his own. He had food. His water bottle was half empty and green with Algie, But worst of all he had straw rather than hay infact he didnt have any hay.
I asked why he was on his own and if he had ever lived with another guinea pig and the lady in the shop said (And i quote) "He's to old to live with another guinea pig. He's own his way out."
I'm so tempted to go and get him. But i know it just makes room for another one to be put in his place.

If you have the room for him and you know you could give him a better life (which it's obvious you would) then I would say go for it! Obviously it depends on your personal situation e.g room and money! But I feel very sorry for that poor lil guy stuck in there and I'm sure he would be better off with you!

Saving one piggies life, where ever they are from is surely an amazing thing to do! I got all 4 of my babies from the p@h adoption center and do not feel guilty, I did actually look into rescues but nothing seemed to work out for me, despite all of my best efforts. Clive and Wigner were both alone and the shop floor manager even called Wigner 'evil'. He is a beautiful little boy and it just shows how they neglect them. Kevin and Richie both had awful nails and Kevin had an anal plug when I got him, clearly they don't know how to do anything! I say go save him and give him the life he deserves.

If you have the room why not, if he is 'on his way out' at least he could have a nice peaceful and safe retirement home with you !

Go to a rescue this weekend instead!

There is lots of lovely piggies who've been sat in rescues for months and some even years now :) Really lovely piggies, they've been neglected, unwanted, abused, abandoned or given up due to a change in circumstances.

If you give them a home, you're supporting a rescue, and making room for an abandonded/unwanted pig to have a safe heaven and giving not one pig but two pigs a chance to have a life of happiness. :)

Oh and perhaps read this poem whenever you go to a petshop, its about dogs but works for all animals:

I'm a little puppy, so cuddly, sweet and small
I live inside a cage, you see at a Pet Store in the mall.
I'm not an only puppy, my sisters are all here.
My brothers, too, except for Ralph who died because he was scared.
It's lonely here at nighttime when all the lights go dark,
We tremble in our cages and we whimper and we bark.
But no one comes to hold us or pet our fears away.
We sit all night in terror til the store opens next day.
We don't remember mama, left so far behind.
she did the best she could for us til Man said "It is time."
He crammed us all in cages too small for us you see.
We rode for hours; we could not help but lay in poop and pee.
And now we sit in a Pet Store where kids come taunt and squeeze.
They do not hear our whimpers or understand our pleas.
We're miserable and it's scary here we all would rather die.
But since we don't we do our best to run away and hide.

I know you think my story too sad to leave me be.
You want to take me home with you, a happy little puppy.
But please, though it is fearful to live here against our will.
If you take me that leaves a spot another pup will fill.
You can stop our suffering but not by taking us home.

You must be strong and leave us here, unsold and all alone.
For if you do not take me, then another pup won't come.
And maybe he will not be shipped so far away from home.
Tho some of us may not survive the cycle 'ere it falls.
If we don't sell they will not need more puppies in these halls.
And if they need no puppies then the Man will not bring more.
Eventually it can all stop! You CAN close the door.

So when you see a puppy face so sad and sweet and small.
In a cage at a Pet Store at your neighborhood shopping mall.
The best thing you can do for him is leave him sitting there.
That is the best way you can tell all dogs how much you care.

I'm so tempted i have a spare hutch, i didnt go in there to look at the animals, its just the kids wanted to.
I only went for a fish tank filter.! And now I'm worried about him. The petshop is shut on sundays. And I'm at work tomorrow. Will see what the situation is like on tuesday.
For all i know there could be someone who wants him who will look after him just as much as i would.

Forgot to let you know about the guinea pig.
When i went back on tuesday, he had already gone. :(
I'm sure whoever got him isn't stupid and will look after him
