I felt pretty good today, like I had done my good deed for the day.

I went into my local garden centre to buy some hay for my piggies and whilst in there I saw a few of the workers located around the guinea pig pen. Curious I walked over and watched what they were looking at. There was a gorgeous little ridgeback guinea pig in there chasing, fighting and trying to hump all the other males.

I overheard them talking about how they were thinking of splitting him off and making it so he would be sold alone and be seperated in the pet shop from the rest. I told them that the guinea pig was just trying to show dominance and not to split him. I told them to try him with a single guinea pig male that seemed quite relaxed and calm. They've now split him up with a lovely grey guinea pig and they are going to see if it works out. From what I saw, he tried to hump a few times but the grey one ignored him or walked off.
I was very happy that the male who was working there seemed interested in what I was saying.

I'm going in tomorrow to check on him, they even offered me the guinea pig as they weren't sure what to do with him.

They also took my advice and are going to read up on boar dating.

I'm hoping they do indeed listen to me and the little guy isn't destined for a life of loneliness.

oh well done you! would you take him if it looked like he would be alone?

I'm very tempted to take him but I know I can't keep him. I'd have to advertise him on here or take him to a rescue.

I just want to make sure he doesn't have a lonely life. He was a lovely looking guinea pig.

Thank you. :)

Hopefully when I check tomorrow it will be a happy ending. ^_^

I'm just glad they listened to me as I do look 14 despite being 22. ^^;

Well I went in today for a checkup and it seems he's gotten on very well with the piggy I told them to put him with.

They are now living peacefully with one another and the other piggies are happy. :)

i think in a situation like this they should be advertised as a pair,it would be a shame to slit them up now, so i really hope they get sold together.

That's what I said to them. They said they planned to sell them together so I hope they will. :)

WELL DONE LOVE!

awwwwwwwww if you hadn't helped that poor little boar would've ended up lonesome and probably sold as a 'lone piggie only' mallethead
THANKYOU sooooooooo much x>>

Thank you! ^_^

I really didn't want to see another poor boar end up with a life alone.

That's an amazing thing you've done there, you've stopped this poor little pig from being sold to live alone. And he has a friend, which is great! Now he's not trying to be dominant over a group of pigs he might calm down :) x

Yeah I think so. ^_^

I'm glad I walked in on them that day. I also referred someone on the same day who was looking for guinea pigs to a rescue so she's off looking for guinea pig rescues now. :)

All in all a good day.
