Good afternoon all, hope everyone is ready for Christmas!

I just have a rather mind tickle that's wanting an opinion from you guys

We have an amazing pet sitter here locally but he also cat sits and dog sits.

Would you say this is quite risky for my guinea pigs to catch something from the dogs and cats?

Thank you. :)

I have cats and other members have dogs.

As long as he washes his hands you should be fine.

Our petsitter also looks after cats so this has crossed my mind too. My guinea pig requires a few different meds so I leave a box of disposable gloves next to their cage which she uses every time she administers the medication.

Yeah glad I'm not the only one who has thought about this. We have used his services before and i thought he was brilliant. I was just literally wondering about these things after my guinea pigs have had potential URI. no malice or anything like that and i am not saying the pet sitter is dirty or does not know about hygiene. Just general wonderment because i know guinea pigs can get some things from other animals :)

Our petsitter also watches cats and dogs. She's been looking after our boys for a couple years now and we've never had any issues with illness. If they petsit as a a job I'm sure they understand the importance of hand washing before and after handling.
