I was going to my local pet store today to get some more hay, and I saw the guinea pigs that they are selling. At $60 an animal they were selling them but one get one! That’s a good thing because it makes people want to get two (even though they should not be buying guinea pigs). I feel that if they are discounting animals unlike before, they must be getting fewer buyers. Right? So less people are buying guinea pigs. Maybe it is just this time of year, but I feel like this is kind of a good thing. Less buyers = less need for female guinea pigs making babies and less money to bad breeders.

Yes that sounds like a thing, unless they just want rid of this batch because younger piggies are coming in. The pet trade is awful as a whole. All we can do is try to support rescues as much as possible. They are the saviours for many a piggie to find a new home once the impulse buyer has lost interest
