Just signed it. I hope this really does something to change it!

Me either. Just hope something can be done

About 10 years ago I got 2 pigs from them (before I knew better, and before I knew about rescues) I was told both were female... I'm sure you know where I'm going with this... ended up with 3 babies.

I also witnessed a member of staff who was meant to be washing one of the birds, get distracted by talking to a colleague and the poor bird drowned.

I've had such shockingly poor advice from the staff there, I've yet to come across someone who actually knows what they're talking about, I strongly believe they should not be allowed to sell animals and I really hope something comes of this petition.

That's really saddening =(

I have been in Carlisle store and the staff were lovely.Took on a rabbbit they had nursed back to health and they were genuinely sad to see him go.Took him visiting last week and they were all pleased to see him, cuddling him and everything. They explained everything about care of rabbit and a guinea pig we took on, checked what accommodation they were going into and that I knew about diet etc. They also sat down with kids and talked to them about animal care. The pets at home in whitaven were also brillliant. They had a rabbit up for rehoming that they had had for over a year. She spends her nights in a 120 cage and her days in the office.I don't think it's fair tarring all pets at homes stores with the same brush.I have nothing but praise for those particular stores A store is only as good as its manager

Absolutely agree. It's just I've personally had many a bad experience from several of their stores and I don't feel they put the animals first. I also strongly disagree with breeding when there are so many piggies (and other animals) needing good homes. :(

i have a local PAH and go there to buy my cat litter for my piggies,, i always look in on all the animals they have... this week they were out of stock so i went to another one.. I saw their animals had loads of veg, hay, treats and toys to play with unlike my local one.. I mentioned this to a lovely member of staff who said they should all follow the same protocol.. next time i am in, i am going to mention it to the manager... its sad to see them in there anyway,,,

I'm not going to enter into the debate about sale of livestock generally.

I would echo what Debbie has said above that this was one person's experience in one store. There is good and bad in every business in every walk of life. A store is only as good as its individual management and staff. All I would say is that people are free to follow their conscience and judge by their own experiences.

I totally agree about not generalizing, and the petition might not be written correctly because it indeed leads to think that what is said happens in all the stores... but the petition itself just asks for some kind of investigation that checks how the staff behaves towards animals.
