I've just been to P@H in Regent Road, Salford as i needed a carrot cottage and delivery is useless at this time of year.

I looked in at their piggies as i passed and saw that both pens (they had 10 babies, poor things) had very little hay (just a few strands here and there). I found a member of staff and very politely asked if they would give them some more hay, explaining that it makes up 80% of a piggies diet. I was told in a very condescending way that they got fed at 4pm. Again, i very politely explained that guinea pigs need to have access to hay all the times not just once or twice a day. The gentleman then told me that he had worked for the company (P@H) for 10 years and new what he was doing, to this i replied that i worked for a company that decommissions nuclear power plants but that didn't mean i was an expert at taking apart nuclear reactors. He glared at me and said it would be sorted out. I'm can't say i was convinced that he would do anything but i did try.

So if anyone else goes in this particular P@H please make a point of checking on the piggies and if they have no hay please do annoy the staff by asking them to give them some.

thats horrible! i have a friend who has one piggie in a VERY small hamster cage and it dosent get greens and idk what to do :/

Yes, I’ve had a quiet word with the ones near me, once the till operator with a horrified bunny on his shoulder was trying to socialise him? I told him he would be better taking him somewhere quieter, and that was no way to socialise a rabbit!

Perhaps you could suggest to her to get a proper cage? And maybe take round some greens and hay for him x

Did you get his name? With things like that, I find putting a complaint in usually helps. I don't know what the company policy is re:hay, but if other branches manage to have large piles available at all times, they all can. And if 'Pets come first' as they claim, then they should be topping up their hay, rather than giving customers attitude, we all know that you can do something for 10 years and still be doing it wrong!

Ive tryed :/ She does give it hay, just not greens. I recommended some cages but she just kinda turned that idea down. She rly does love her guinea pig though, and I believe she will realize one day about proper care. I know she used to have two, and the other one died.
