Hi just thought i would post a note to say big thumbs up to p@h in farnborough I went in today and bought two of their primrose cottage hutches (£119.00 each ! ekk but they were previously much more expensive than that) and two bags of Timothy Hay at £8 each. Peter the store manager there was an absolute star (and cute! :)), when i told him that i intended to take on some rescue piggies he gave me a 10% discount. Pets at home are always getting a raw deal but i have always found them to be ace. I was realy cheeky and asked but if you dont ask you dont get!
He even loaded up my car for me! xx>>>

I have found them to be helpful in the past, my Splodge (in my avatar) was dumped there with a cage mate in a terrible state, malnourished, bald and covered in mites. the mans excuse was he had bought the pigs for his kids and then his wife left him so they were just ignored :( His mate didn't survive and it wasnt looking likely Splodge was going to, they took him in and treated him and I told them to call me if he got better. Well she called me to say he pulled through and he was mine if I wanted him and he is now one of the happiest little pigs you could ever meet, they gave him me free of charge and always ask how he is when I go back in for my hay :) I know the practice of selling pets isn't great but the staff themselves do seem to care a lot for the animals, they do a lot of fundrasing for the local shelter as well and recommend people go there if they are looking for older pigs and rabbits.

i got jake from their 2 years ago he had a problem with his leg (broken:() but they got him better & he's now being spoiled :(|)

i ordered 2 new homes about 4 weeks ago fron p@h & went to get them last friday i was soooooooo excited got cash out & off i went got there & got the ex display bedrooms went to the till to pay, he went to check how much they where & she said nothing as i had been waiting awhile :(|) these things never happen to me

thanks for the heads up re: the hindges :) hubbies pretty good with things like that i expect he will give it the once over when he is putting it together and more than likely put better hinges and bolts on it -c he's already reliably informed me that he will be putting lino in the bottoms on them to prevent the floor from rotting and make it easier to clean and stable blocks on the feet to raise them from the floor a bit more.
i also intend to get tarps to put over them to keep them as good as new and keep the wind and rain off :)
its a shame they are discontinuing them as they make a good sized hutch as far as ones you can buy from the shop go! apparently they were £199.00? owch! i think i saw them on offer a while back but not sure when they were that price?
i did notice that they had one in there today which was £169 with a pitched roof on it so i am more than happy with the ones i got today ;)

excellent that Splodge is better i realy pleased that they also offer rehoming now.
As to the practice of selling pets not ideal i agree but there will always be people who do and its good that they at least will take responsibility for sick or abandoned animals that come from them. ( just a shame that it cant be said of the majority of pets shops thou!)

I've often wondered what fellow PAH's were like around the country. Ours is fantastic. We are pretty well known to all the staff and they usually tease us to avoid the guinea pigs when we are there :) They often ask us to take a piggy, who has been unwell and been nursed in the back (or at their own homes even :))), like my Lillian and Moppet, so they can go to a special home. We even took Lil and Moppet back to see the girl who had looked after them when they were ill with a chest infection, and her face absolutely lit up and spent an age cuddling and cooing to them :P
I've heard so much bad press about PAH being uncaring towards the animals, which may be the cause in some places, but certainly not here :) The adoption scheme is such a fantastic addition aswell, as several of our bunch will agree xx>>>
