Hi guys!

Just wondering what you all reckoned to the Pets at Home guinea pig nuggets? Funds are low at the moment and burgess excel is stretching my budget a bit too much x

Harringtons are a good brand and recommended my my local recommended rescue. They are £12 for a 10kg bag. I have currently about 40 guineas and a bag lasts me about a month.

You can get a smaller bag in asda for about £3 :)

PAH were not recommended due to additives x

One of mine Mrs Simpson was on them when I got her but mine were all on burgess so I changed her to that. I have since changed them all to Asda nuggets which are very similar to burgess and are only £2.00 a pack and they love them even my old girl Cousin Amelia who had lived on muesli all her life in her old home loves them.

vetuk.co.uk have the burgess guinea pig nuggets 10kg bag for between 15-16 pounds, so thats about 3 quid per 2kg bag size x x

@nicky - Are asda nuggets good with respect to additives etc? I've been finding the burgess expensive but would like to mix it with a cheaper similar one, providing it still has good quality.

As far as I am aware they are very similar x

That sounds reasonable. I just put 2 handfuls in a bowl a day and they never finish that... would it be better to split it over 2 portions?
I just give the portion and it takes them all day to eat. These are big pellets. You need to break them in half.

Mine get P@H nuggets as well as Burgess or Harris.
I find P@H are best for softening up/liquidising and feeding to poorly pigs - My old boy Ginger won;t eat anything else!
x
