I know there's a sticky above about PAH muesli but has anyone used the PAH nuggets? Are they any good?

I use them. My piggies like them and I like them because I know that they cant pick anything out and not not get any vital things.

My pigs use them as well but I'll be switching to Burgess Excel so I don't have to use Pets at Home anymore.

Many people don't like to spend their money in P@H because of the way they keep their animals and their lack of animal know-how. They would rather have their money go somewhere else.

I used P@H nuggets before going onto Burgess Excel. Not really sure why I made the change. I think I just preferred the packaging lol

Thanks for this info. I've been shopping in PAH for years and never noticed any problems.

Dont you like the Pets At Home?

Pretty much for the same reasons LittleEskimo gave really. It's up to you where you get your food from but for me personally, I'd rather not give them my business. The sheer volume of guineas they go through weekly is astounding! It's probably my own fault for going in so often. Sorry, I went off the beaten track a bit.. this post is supposed to be about food lol!

There's a good discussion on it going on the thread below.

when i first got my 3 "sows" from pets at home they were on their nuggets now i have 14 pigs due to my 2 sows and the third being a boar having 8 babies between them, and having to adopt some piggies to even out the numbers so they are all in pairs that get along
i now use charnwood milling for their nuggets ad thats where i get my chinchilla food from its the best place for chin nuggets so the piggie food cant be bad, all mine love it

Just realised I mucked up that sentence, I meant to say I shouldn't go in because I notice how often they go through guinea pigs.

Buzzy came from P@H (before I joined the forum & when I was uninformed !) & so he's always had their nuggets & loves them but my other piggies are on Burgess Excell & I want to have them all on Burgess as they are more widely available. However Buzzy, being Buzzy has other ideas & even though I'm gradually giving him a mixture of both he still only eats P@H ones with the Excell still in the dish! rolleyes

Has anyone got any advice on getting my stubborn little chap to convert?

Mine were all on P@h nuggets and liked them.
Its fine to feed because they cant pick out what they do and dont like.
My lot have been on Burgess Excel for a little while now, and personal prefrence but i prefer them on this and they seem to like it just as much, i had a big thing with Pets At Home a little while ago with my guinea pig.Wont go into it (Its a long story) So i wont go in there now.
But yes there nuggets are fine to feed :))

If everyone ordered P@H stuff on line they'd kill the on street stores.. but, not harm the business itself (apart from putting hundreds of employees out of work, who might not thank you for it).. tis how the likes of Argos is just clinging onto existence on the street, and where you can still find woolworths ;)
Boycotting is not the only way, you can hit at the heart of them without causing more harm to your purse, because right now, this country NEEDS to keep EVERY business it has... and my girls WONT EAT BURGESS NUGGETS!

I bought a hutch at pets at home yesterday and I got a free bag of their nuggets. I'll mostly change to something else when the bag finishes.

Lol I read that post back to front.. that you got a free hutch when you bought a bag of pellets!

My piggies don't like them any more.
They came on them, then i put them on burgess oregano (which they LOVED!) and i put them on P@H due to money and now they won't touch them -_- so i've had to find money to get them their burgess.
Do you live near wolverhampton/telford? I have around 2 or 3kg (the bits they won't touch) which i need to get rid of, i just can't deliver as i don't have the bag or anything for them :)

I used to buy P@H nuggets because they were cheaper than burgess. But have found an online store that delivers free. Their Burgess is cheaper than P@H own brand, for the biggest bag anyway.

Mine never seemed too fussy about pellets, so I can pick up a bag at a supermarket or whatever in a pinch; they've never refused any!

I started them on the PAH nuggets, because they came from PAH (first-time ownership naivety, sorry!) and had always been fed on it, so I knew they wouldn't refuse them. Machu tried Harrington Optimum Guinea Pig food (the sticker says it replaced Wagg Optimum -- maybe Wagg have rebranded?) for the first time this morning and seemed to absolutely love it. It's really strange, teeny tiny pellets though. One thing I like about the PAH is that they're bigger chunks, so they get more chew time and, from a selfish point of view... they just make less mess when Machu decides to run laps that include hopping in and out of his food dish!
