Hey, I am not starting this thread to bitch about pets at home. On my way home from work today, I popped in to buy my girls a hay rack (which they love :smitten:). Anyway, it has had a new refit and I was actually quite impressed. The guinea pigs are now separated (girls in one glass tank thing and boys in the other), The rabbits are far away from the guinea pigs (in a separate pen all together), gerbils in a massive aquarium filled with lots of bedding and toys and other rodents in bigger cages too. All the animals are provided with bedding, food, water, and toys and seem quite happy. There was even a notice up saying these exact words 'Animals have only just arrived in store and need to settle. Therefore, they will be available for sale from the 26th April', I have NEVER seen this before . There was also a much wider range of products. Just thought I would share this as may be pets at home are actually pulling their fingers out.

last time i went in our local one they were in the middle of a refit and it was a mess. i may have to go back and see if its finished this weekend i think

the animals werent removed at mine, but the refit wasnt near that area, they had just taken down all the shelving, and all the stock was just piled up everywhere

ours hasnt had a refit still tiny cages, cages with both bunnies and pigs in ::)

Maybe they (pets at home) had so many complaints about their shops and how they keep animals. That they have finally done something about it!! O0 :smitten:

The one in Warrington is being refitted now, all animals have been removed and it's taken 2 weeks already.
I keep popping in to see what they are doing.

Ooo wonder what the warrington one will be like?! it was quite good to start with! the st helens one already has an upstairs where the fish are and they already have signs on fish and hamsters saying they have just arrived and need to be left for a few days. i think with the pigs and the rabbits etc they're only put on the shop floor once they've been quarantined. when i went to get my 1st pigs they never had any out and told me to come back in three days when they'd be able to put the ones that were being quarantined out :)

I was talking to one of the staff at our local Pets at Home, and he was saying that all the shops have had notification from Head Office that they are not allowed to keep rabbits and guinea pigs together.
