I bought a pack of this today for the first time. It was a medium bag priced at £2.99.

I wanted to buy something soft especially for Milly and her bumblefoot.
I have to say that I am very impressed with it. A little certainly went a long way! :)

Do any other members use this?

Is it a bit like cotton wool (sort of?)

I think it wouldn't be cost effective as I have 10 pigs but if it works for you then great!

Yes, I agree ... only good if you use it for a couple of guinea pigs.

I had tried Vetbed which was great until I needed to wash it. My husband is allergic to hay and pet fur, so to wash vetbed in the washing machine and then wash his clothing after was a no-go! :(

Then with Milly foot problem re-occurring, I removed the woodshavings and put in towels and soft hay. But I found that hutch was getting wet underfoot even though I changed it all every day.

So I had to go back to woodshavings. Then I saw this Safe Bedding in Pets at Home. It is a mix of paper and paper wood flakes. It softened the woodshavings which I think will really help Milly.

What about megazorb? You can buy it online and it's far more cost effective than safe bedding and chances of bumblefoot are far less than with shavings.

Lorna, where do you buy megazorb from online? i soooo want some and dont know where to find some to buy xxxxx

I don't think megazorb is cost effecive to buy online because of the postage. A lot of equestrian shops stock it so look up equestrian suppliers in your area and if you dont drive, bribe someone that does x :x

safe bedding

I use megazorb at the moment, it's better that woodshavings as it is softer, doesn't tread all around the house either. Only one draw back is it costs a little more and i still have to clean mine out as often, cos they poop everywhere and not just in one place. I am thinking of getting vet bed then i can hoover the poops up, once a day. Sharon.
