Hello,

I bought some Timothy hay from pets at home today (See here: Timothy Feeding Hay 1kg By Pets at Home | Pets At Home) and I am regretting my decision after reading reviews and as a new guinea pig owner just looking for some reassurance.

Is this hay okay for them to eat? Has anyone else given their piggys this hay?

Thank you :)

It's Ok . It won't do them any harm but there are better hays available .

If I buy Timothy Hay from P@H , I get the Alfalfa King brand. This hay is quite pricey and too coarse for them to rummage in - but is worth getting to put in hay bags or toilet rolls for a treat.

Thank you, you've put my mind at rest for tonight! Will get them some better stuff tomorrow :) Really want to make sure I am doing everything right and hay is such an important part of their diet I wanted to make sure it was good.

... and mine don't eat any of the Burgess brand hays - I don't know why !

I get my hay online nowadays . I sometimes buy hay from The Range if I'm running low

Aww bless them, picky hay eaters then :) Do you mind if I ask what website you order from? I shall look at the range also to order from :)

Alfalfa King brand Timothy Hay always goes down well

Ours love the Oxbow stuff but it can be expensive. Hay experts are a great site Western Timothy Hay - 22.7kg | Hays & Grasses | The Hay Experts

We give our girls a good quality Meadow Hay (from a local pet supply store) or the soft hay from Dustfreehay.co.uk and then feed them some Timothy hay as extra each day

This is a coarse hay so not good for rummaging - but good in hay bags. It's the only UK Timothy I know of - most comes from the USA.

I get the INGs hay from here .

Lots of lovely hays on this site - I tend to get the Orchard grass.

Thank you, this is great, very helpful of you :)

I get the Alfalfa King timothy hay from P @ H - I agree it's expensive, but is always a consistent good quality. I spread it as a kind of "floor" for them (I know - somewhat extravagant) and then put "fluffed up" meadow hay in twice a day. They love both to eat.

Haha I love the extravagance - the things we do for our pets :) Thank you :)
