I will ask this now as wood-shavings have come up, doesn't anyone worry about the effect phenols have on the body? Plus the fact that kiln drying doesn't remove all of these phenols?

I'm not a fan of wood shavings because of the texture and found bits were getting stuck in and around my pigs genitals so switched them over to fleece.

i do want go get fleeces but I cant afford it right now. this is just temp till I get paid ^^;

I’d love to use fleece but my 2 boys live in my garage so I’m not sure if it would work for them.

Fleece is cheaper than hay or wood shavings.

But I use wood shavings as it helps with the smell and is easier to clean their cage. And its fine/safe.

The only thing I would recommend is that when you do a proper/full clean and replace of the wood shavings, take the piggies out of the cage; as there is some dust that needs to settle/disperse. (It even makes me cough sometimes).

But after you've put the shavings down in the cage, it is fine. (Also if you compress the shavings on the cage floor, its even better.)

Pets at home wood shavings are perfectly fine I use these quite frequently for my piggies cage .
