I was in penrith pets at home and went to see the guinea pigs. One of them kept humping one of the others consistently.I spoke to one of the assistants and she took me seriously. She went straight to the pen and got a key to check the sexes of the pigs. They were both males but the one that was getting humped was really stressed. They separated the one doing the humping while I was there.I was impressed that they took me seriously and double checked the sexes. He is a very dominant boar but absolutely gorgeous.

Humping in piggies is a sign of dominance. Both males and females do it, and some owners of boars give them cuddly toys to take away some of the heat.

I know but the brown boar was seriously stressed about it.The assistant that came with the keys said he has been sat in the corner all day.

Awwww poor lil one.

I'm surprised how you didn't snaffle him up and take him home with you...one more piggie... :)

Too dominant. He would have had to go in with the baby and heathcliffe is so gentle with him don't want to break the bond.

Soz, just realised you meant the brown one.The assistant is taking him and another one home tomorrow. She has everything set up and I recommended the forum. She seemed interested.

How lovely to have a shop assistant be so concerned for the welfare of the charges in their care :yahoo:. I couldn't do it, I'd end up with a menagerie at home; the other half won't let me have more than the two boys

I know someone who worked in P@H and had so many animals, from piggies to bearded dragons, geckos, hamsters, a chinchilla, cats and rabbits. She could not say no...and I would be no different if I worked in one of their stores.

Too much cute fluff, especially with the Hammies and piggies :)
