Ok even though the gang are posted on the rescue bit i am still on the hunt for a hutch that i can afford (no more than £50-70 and a single 5ft x 2ft or double tier 4ft x2ft) just in case...

I went into pets at home to see if they had any ex display hutches that they would sell cheaply...

I went in and saw a Thistle Hall hutch without the doors and the ramp was damaged... So i asked a shop assistant that if i took it without the doors (can always put new doors on) what would they sell it for...

Now please bear in mind they had been waiting 6MONTHS for new doors from the supplier...

They go for £129.99 and the assistant said they would do it for £90! I said considering the £20-30 i would need to spend on materials for the doors and sorting out the ramp it would cost me the same as buying a brand new one!

What on earth is the point in doing that! Yes it maybe £40 less than new but considering the cost of producing one of them (not a lot judging by it) and the fact it had been sitting there for 6 months without doors they could have gone down by £20 extra at least...

It beggars belief sometimes... Anyway that is my rant for today....:))

The search for an affordable hutch continues...

Look at the website for Pets at Home they had Sage House on there for £79.99. :)

at least they offered to sell the display one, they would never do that where i am lol

Pets at Home rabbits are £26.00 the giant rabbits are £126.00. I think a pair of buns is £45.00. Harvey only cost me £15.00 from the RSPCA fully neutered at vacc. :)

Wonder where they got them from! I've only seen the general rabbits in Pets at home.

I saw two gorgeous guinea pigs in there up for adoption yesterday - I can't understand why nobody wanted them - they were beautiful.x)x)

I don't like the adoption centre in there because I always want the animals thats up for adoption. I went in there once for some bits and came out with an adopted chinese hamster x) I hate the reasons they are in there too. It's usually things like 'my owners brought a dog that didn't get on with me' or 'my owners can't look after me'

Pudsey was from the adoption centre, the excuse was an allergy to woodshavings but he was 3 months old and probably getting too big. I can't beleive he was overlooked as he is gorgeous. :)

Jane28. I agree with you, that was a ridiculous price to expect someone to pay for a doorless, rampless hutch.

Thanks! I did think that when the sage house is going for less than that! THing about the Thistle hall is that it is a great size ( i could live in it and have room!) and i would not feel so guilty for having the piggies outside in a hutch THAT size! With a nice hutch hugger etc...

Yes that's how I got Ginger - I saw him in there and couldn't resist him.x)

There is a dutch rabbit in the adoption part at the moment on her own with just dried food to eat... Her owner didnt have time for ehr an she needs an experienced home...
They dont have any dutchies for sale at pets at home so she jumped out at me... I cant have her as i have two females getting over their spays at the moment and i really cannot take on another one... I have pm'd someone about her and will see if there are any dutch bunny people out there who fancy another one! Bunny train can be sorted out...Lol

Why not try the Freeds for 2nd hand hutches ive had a couple and after a good clean and lick of paint they come up wonders

Ive had cages as well from next to nothing i have 5 cages in my shed doing nothing i really must sell some for the space more than anything as i have my own purpose built hutches in the shed !:))

i got ex display sage for 40 quid, only have to buy a ramp

My bunny was from P@H adoption. He got bullied because he's massive lol! Oh well! They have a gorgeous French lop at P@H aintree Louise, he's been there a while but its a big enough enclosure and he gets veg and toys so not too bad.

i have been in pets at home today there was a group of 3 boars to be rehomed together and a group of 3 sows to be rehomed together then 2 sows together i asked about the guinea pigs and they had to hunt around for paper work for adoptions i held one of the two sows that were together and saw lice crawling in her fur i put her bach in the cage and said i would come back in a bit walked around shop with hubby and discused wether we should take piggies home asked to hold the pig again to double check lice problem told the girl that the piggy had lice and that the other piggies could be infected she just screwed her face up decided i had to bring them home i only made a donation of £5 as i pointed out they needed treatment no questions were asked as to wether i had other piggies or care and feeding advice given i am going to write to head office i also couldent believe how easy it is to go in there and adopt an animal there was also a gorgeous rabbit in there for adoption as they said she was now too old to sell in the shop

thats so sad, our p@h pets get rehomed quickly, two of my piggies are from the adoption centre. Do yours show names of the adoptive ones and a story?
