Since when did PAH do adoptions. My heart went out to a BIG boar called Stanley in there today. He was a tri colour pig very beautiful, brown, cream and ginger. Seemed healthy...really big though..like a medium sized rabbit...the OH was there prob a good job as I nearly bought him home.....the habitat he was in was clean etc but...he had a pile of cabbage..*shakes my head* and a ton of woodshaving bedding. .they want a donation of what a new piggie is to buy...basically 15 pounds...I can't stop thinking about him :(

Our local pets a home have an adoption area , never seen GP's only rabbits / hamsters/ gerbils they always in nice clean cages but behind a galls wall
which makes me feel as if the hutches were originally going to be an aquarium area !

My first girl Gertie was from the adoption centre and a few others have been too.

exactly it was warm in there too..they had a fan inside over the top bit but blowing straight down.

I've had a nosey around my local P@H... They had a Degu and two rabbits. I saw one rabbit running around with hay in her mouth. Thought she may have been pregnant... Haven't seen many piggies though

I have seen quite a few adoption places in PAH. They are normally tucked away at the back gggrrrr. Normally one pig on their own :( because they were never picked or had ringworm when they came to the store. Every time I go there I want to adopt every single animal in there! But the other half wouldn't allow it :td:
I fell in love with two boys just after one of my pigs pasted away last year. I even named them in the shop (stupidly) but it was too soon for me. I think @helen105281 is right. If he is playing on your mind then go for it. I know I regret not getting them.

All 3 of my local P@H have an adoption centre. They always have piggies in, they are usually solo pigs - it breaks my heart every time I see them. Some of the piggies have been returned by people who bought them but others are piggies that have been in stock for a while and have not been bought. I do feel a little reassured by that because hopefully it means that unwanted animals are not destroyed!

It's hard going in there...in my local there was a six month old bunny that was returned because he bit a child, but he was so strokable if you were gentle and calm when he was on you...I found out that day I was allergic to rabbits, and I knew they'd be too jumpy for me in the wheelchair anyway when I researched, but I've been asking around to see if anybody who keeps rabbits wants him...he was gorgeous, just not a child's rabbit.

My Boris was from here, I felt desperately sorry for him and adopted him (despite knowing little about Guinea pigs at the time). It was the little sign they have next to them that always get me! 'I've been in store for quite some time now and would love a home of my own' pulls at the heart strings!

This is very worrying. Cuys really are not able to be tamed. Anybody could get him.

Hey wait you said tri coloured. I have only heard of cuys being one colour so maybe he is a big guinea pig.

That is very worrying if so, like Piggyfan says he could get into the wrong hands.

Oh yes I think I may have heard that too, though I don't know much about them.

Do you think I need to go and have a word with them...I want to get him but if he is Cuy I am not confident enought to rehome him. At least if I chat to them and explain my worry they might rehome him somewhere suitable?

I have just been researching and in CA they have tri coloured Cuys. I dont know I am no expert...but if he is not then he is one giant pig!

I fell in love with a little boy called Boris at the P@H here but had to put him back :(

Could it be possible hes half cuy half normal piggie? Maybe theres more chance of taming a half natural guinea pig. It's better he goes to a rescue or owner like you who knows more about guinea pigs then a newbie getting him for their son or daughter.

from what I know they are usually red and white. They are long in the face and look different to piggies. If you want to adopt him then I would as you are the best piggy mum ever. After quarantine he could even be paired with one of your boys!

What's a cuy?

From a Cuy site..

The guinea pig rescue community (especially in GuineaLynx.info forums) has been reporting a larger than average strain of guinea pigs showing up in shelters, referred to as “cuy” by the rescue community. These seem to have first appeared in southern California.
Many of these piggies are red and white, very skittish, strong & muscular, and can reach 5 or 6 pounds. They can be worked with to become less skittish but are probably best for experienced owners. They don’t seem aggressive at all - just scared and skittish.

This strain was developed over 3 decades in Peru for increased meat production

His face is long ...like an egg shape..oval. Long in the nose. Maybe I am over worrying lol.
