Hello, I'm a new member and I wondered if anyone can give me advice on whether my piggy is suffering from a phantom pregnancy, or is there such a complaint in the Guinea Pig world ?

I haven't personally heard about it. What makes you suspect she could be pregnant?

I haven't heard of phantom pregnancies in guinea pigs - all 3 of our girls showed definite signs of pregnancy but did not produce - we (vet inc) suspect that Lettie - who has brain damage - miscarried her babies, and that Bluey and Piper either did the same or we were seeing signs of their ovarian cysts erupting.

What makes you think your girlie may be pregnant? x

@Chris Blevins in my experience piggies generally don't show their pregnancy for quite some time, so I was wondering what prompted your question. Has your sow been with a boar? Or is this a recent addition to your family and you are concerned that she might have been with a boar before you adopted her?
