This is just to update really as we are doing all we can medically. On Wednesday the OH worked from home and at about 3pm rang me at work in a panic, he had stepped into Phoebe's herd's cage and she ran across him and under his foot and he trod on her. He rang the local vets straight away and literally ran there with her in a carrier while I drove from work (40 minutes away) to meet him. The vet thought she had got off lightly and said we should continue to give her Metacam (the OH had done this straight away anyway) and they would xray in a few days when the swellling had gone down if needed. On Friday I was still not happy with her as she was struggling to eat so my kind Dad drove us to Simon Maddock in Northampton who checked her over and looked at her teeth. Apparently her incisors are perfectly aligned and so are her back teeth, and the jaw moves about ok, She has some swelling on the left side which is pushing her jaw to the right. He did however, point out the bruising that had started to come out under her chin, which with her being a skinny is very visible and is making her uncomfortable. We are to keep her on pain relief and syringe feed until she is eating her herself again. She has good moments and bad, and we are fighting a battle with her weight at the moment, as she has an incredibly fast metabolism. She is at work with the OH and Barney today as he is excellent at syringe feeding, but am hoping that as each day goes by she will be able to eat more for herself otherwise the back teeth could start to overgrow,. I called our vet today to see if they could get us some Emeraid in as it is higher calorie than Critical care but they can't get it, and I forgot to ask Simon yesterday so not sure where else I could get that from. Will update here with how she is each day.
 
Poor Phoebe! Accidents will happen particularly with piggies who seem determined to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sending lots of healing vibes and hugs to you all x

Poor girl- I hope she recovers quickly! They certainly can get underfoot- I once gave Sundae a good kick, as I was walking through the hallway and she darted suddenly in front of my foot! No real harm done, but she did quite a flip and was very unhappy with me for kicking her!
 
Its so easy.I fell into the cage one day and landed on a fiddleaticks bridge that one of them was under.Still don't know how I managed to shift my weight so quickly so my full weight wasn't on her*Fingers crossed her recovery goes well
 
blimey i really cant imagine bruising on a pigwig. Really hope Ross is not punishing himself too much, we all have accidents as everyone else has said.Fingers crossed she is back to her normal self soon xx
 
Thank you everyone, he is beating himself up a bit bless him. She is eating small strands of hay tonight and was very excited about the pellet mush I made up for her. So far today she has had 130ml of syringe feed.
 
Pictures are sideways but you get the gist. She looks skinny but has always been tiny and has lost over 100g since it happened.
 
Sorry to hear this. your OH must be feeling so guilty. I have had several 'close encounters' withour skinnies, Pinky and Perkins. The little are experts at getting under my feet.
 
Well I don't think she has stopped eating yet today. Going to leave her be until this evening when we will weigh her and give her a couple of top up feeds if needed. Then we can see if she needs to go to work tomorrow or not as she is much happier at home. Also they can't go on the tube as Barney freaks out and rumbles at everything.
 
Just weighed her and she has only dropped 7g today with no syringe feeding whereas between the accident and Friday she had dropped over 100g with continual syringe feeding. She was 686g before and had dropped to 577g, so am happy that we can leave her tomorrow for the day. We are experiencing some dominance from Mabel too so it is best not to keep taking her away for the day and reintroducing her.
 
Good to hear she seems to be on the mend! What a horrible accident - your poor OH!
 
Well she wouldn't take her meds this morning as she was too busy eating bless her, got them in in the end though. Left her at home today, so just hope she keeps eating and doesn't lose any weight. Will top up tonight if needed though.
