Photos and Video - Can't Upload.... :((

Since getting our two new boys Leo and Rusty, and getting a 'new' phone (It's the Iphone XS which has an amazing camera and video, even though it's from 2018), I have been taking some amazing photos of them, but I cannot upload them to my computer to share on here. 😦

I don't have much data on my phone to send them that way, because I choose to only use the Internet on my phone for if we are out and need to look up something quickly and that is it. Other half and I are old fashioned like that and use our desk top computer to do everything online, rather than our phones. ☺️

Anyway, our desktop computer was also only running with Windows 7 and it seems that could be the problem, so we have just bought a new computer running on Windows 11, hoping that will help, especially as I have three phones, currently, all with lots of precious photos of them that are stuck on the phone, so need to be backed up, and I have so many piggie photos that I want to share online as well.

Does anybody technically minded know of any tips that could help us, please?

We don't really want to upload them to Cloud.
 
I am not sure if this works with iphone but with my android i can connect it to the computer using usb cable - the charging cable, and access all files in it.

I'm not sure about Google Drive.

I also cannot post them straight from my phone due to not having enough Internet data. I only pay around £9 a month for my phone, so it's limited for online stuff.

Yes, we have tried this, but it didn't work, although that's what I've always done with all my cameras in the past. 🤔

Hopefully the new, updated computer will be compliant! 🙄🤞
 
I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to internet on the phone, only computer and as I only have a very small amount of data on my phone, I'm not sure if that can be done.

Oh yes, another thing I remembered is that the password for internet that Plusnet gave us, kept coming up as incorrect when we tried to enter it into the phone! We tried over and over, but it just kept saying it was wrong, so we couldn't do it!
 
You don’t use data on your phone at all if it is connected to the WiFi, so the amount of phone data then doesn’t matter.
The only time I use data is if I’m out (I’m on unlimited data anyway) but otherwise it’s on WiFi at home.

Double check you’re typing the password correctly.
If you are then you can Call plus net and find out how to reset the password on the router and then reconnect everything.

As I said, it’s just a few options to press and your phone will connect to WiFi

Yes that's the one that keeps coming up as incorrect. 🤔

Also, other half (who's just got up) reminded me that we don't have a wireless computer. We're connected through ethernet cable, so can't do it that way.
 
Having to connect the computer to the router via Ethernet cable is a computer issue, and does not stop you connecting your phone to it wirelessly

The computer isn't wireless at all, so we still won't be able to get the photos from the phone to the computer, apparently we need a device........Other half just shouted at me! 😆😒

Anyway, thanks for all the help, hopefully we will be able to work something out! 🤞
 
yes you would need either: an online cloud account that you can sign into on your phone and transfer the photos to it and then sign into the cloud account on the computer to access to them and post on the forum;
Or using the charging cable for the phone from the phone to the computer to transfer or get a double ended usb stick - one end with a lightning connector to go into the phone the other end with a standard usb connection.
With a separate stick, Put the lightning end into the phone and transfer the photos to it and then put the usb end into the computer and upload them to the computer.
If it doesn’t work then all I can think is that it is a software issue.

I would look into finding out why your phone doesn’t like the router password - if you can get that to work then you can just use your phone for everything (including being able to just add the photos straight from the phone to the forum) and data doesn’t matter.
double check the router password hasn’t been changed (sometimes people change them from the one that it is printed with) if it is has then factory reset it back to the original one. Try reconnecting the phone to the router.
 
If you have Facebook or something similar you can share your photos and videos with your husband/friends and then open facebook on your pc and download them
 
Can you go to the library, hook your phone up to their wifi, and upload the pictures for free? The librarian should be able to help you, they always help here in the states.

That is an idea, thanks. 😀

We are getting a new computer in a few days though and other half looked earlier and it is going to wifi capabilities, so hopefully I won't need to use the library! 🤞
