Picking up a hutch off freecycle tonight. What can I use to disinfect it with ready for my boys to move into?

Not sure what state its in, but I'm more than happy to work on it, paint it, secure it etc, as they can't move outside until the weather gets better!

The one I'm getting is 4' x just over 1.5'. Not ideal but good for now! Also been offered a two story hutch in need of TLC, not sure to get them both or not! :)p

get them both, you can always freecycle one after :)

Clean them with VIRKON disinfectant sachet. It kills ringworm which can remain dormant in hutches / cages for up to 10 years, best be on the safe side as you dont know the history of cage occupants.
All the best nice to get freebies !

Thanks!

I know if i get the other, I'll want more piggies for it drool

Awww thats fab news hope it cleans well lucky piggies :)) I got the boys double story 5 foot hutch from preloved for 40 pounds it was a great bargin! And I cleaned mine with white vinigar, pet disinfectant and hmm something else that i cant remember the name off :)

Well I got it, its great! Very sturdy and well built. Looks expensive! I want to do it right up and it will be amazing!

for natural cleaning you could try vineagar and water 50/50. I'm not keen on cleaning out my animals with disenfectants for health reason etc personal preference

What is best to put in the hutch as bedding/flooring? I have only kept them indoors before on towl and fleece

Tada!

Thanks, going to start making is fit for my kings this weekend

I use thick layers of newspaper to cover the hutch floor all the way through. Then in the sleeping area I put mountains of hay and in the living area I use a layer of woodshavings (to absorb the wee) with hay over the top :)
