I'm picking up a new boy tomorrow he was on gumtree free to good home.

He's one and a charector who shouts for attention lol. He is currently living on his own but after a period of quarentine i will be trying him with my skinny boy, if that doesnt work he will be neutered and live with my girls. He will be coming with a cage which I am hoping will be big enough for a couple of weeks for him to be in quarentine fingers crossed.

His mum is really nice and she was sad to part with him, she has been feeding veggies etc..

fingers crossed, I will post some piccies once he is settled x

Congratulations, looking forward to updates :)

My new boy is gorgeous but unfortuntely he doesnt seem 100%. He is the longest guinea I have seen he is huge yet he only weighs 1050gms.

his cage and water bottle had to be thrown out as they were grimy.

Another thing that concerns me is the fact that his poos are very big and soft and dark. They re the right shape just really big and all soft.

Any advice about this should I withhold veg for a few days? .

other than that he seems in fine health just needs a bath and some swafega action. He had iceberg lettuce this morning (at his previous house) could that explain the poos?

I promise pictures after bath time you will all melt he is so pigsome x

It could explain the poos, maybe just give him hay and dry mix for a day or so and see what happens. May be an idea to give him some extra vitamins too such as Metatone tonic to give him a boost. Dose is 0.5ml once a day for 1 week and 0.3ml once a day for second week. If you are worried though then get him a general check up at the vets.

Thanks I am not that worried as I remembered the iceberg and he only had hay on floor which was a bit mucky so he may be just needing some good fibre. I am going to give him 3 types of hay after his bath and he can have a hay buffet.

I also have some pro c so will syringe him some just incase and get him some metatone tonic. Where would I get this from?

You can get it in ay supermarket, should be with the vitamins, is about a fiver I think but lasts ages and good to have in for any potential poorly pigs as it helps stimulate the appetite.

Thanks I'm crossing my fingers. I'm hoping he will be friends with my skinny boy but I will have to be very careful with the bonding as my skinny will be easily hurt. I may get him neutered and bond him with one of my girl groups we will have to see. First things first he needs his quarentine period ....

So pleased he is doing okay.I get new baby girls on Saturday but I know they will be fine as from a good rescue
