Bitzy&Patches
Junior Guinea Pig
Hi
I know a couple of you have given me tips for how to pick my babies up but most of them won't work for me right now, it's because the piggies are in the shed in a hutch and run connected to it as stuff is happening in the house so I didn't want them to get frightened with people going in and out. The problem is is that we hand made the run so it was only made to be an outside thing so we made it with a tiny door (absolutely stupid idea!) We really didn't think it through! But what I've been doing is pulling the run away from the hutch putting a play pen around the front of the hutch. And picking them up that way put I want to be able to pick them up with my hands so they get used to it. They've been rarely picked up as they were 'pet shop rescues' (they were going to go to a rescue any way. so they haven't really had much human contact as they've been in a pet shop for 2 months and it took them forever to trust me so they've not been handled for about 5 months! (They are now 11 months) so I'm getting worried that they will not be able to be handled. I'm going to try to do it every week with them so they get used to it and don't feel worried. So if you have any tips on quickly picking up piggies (that's squirmy piggies too!) that would be great!
