I own two piggies and they are almost a year old now, seems as summer is approaching they are coming out of their cage (outdoors) more often. They have a run and they often go on the grass. One guinea pig is easier to catch than the other due to his coat and often he will go in first.
The problem is with one guinea pig. When I pick him up and place him against my chest he begins to wheek but it doesn't sound excited like normal, it almost sounds alarmed or hurt? As soon as I place him on my lap or the floor he is completely fine and calm. Nothing like this happens with the other guinea pig so I don't know if he simply dosent like or whether I'm doing something incorrect? Any advice X

He obviously doesn't like to be picked up and held. Many guinea pigs don't. It does cut too close to their prey animal instincts.
You could train him to come into a pick-up convenience of some sort, so you do not have to chase him and pick him up for transport: How To Pick Up And Weigh Your Guinea Pig

Just watched the video on that thread and have a few questions relating to it. Is it still alight to pick up piggies with your hands as that is what I do and can you use one of the igloo things to pick them up in but turned upside down?

You can use an upturned igloo. Most piggies that do not like being picked up catch on fairly quickly when they realise that this takes the stress out of it. You can still use your hands if you wish to, but it is worth trying the other way for a few weeks and see what works best. Sometimes, I have to give mine a gentle piggy-style "move on" tap on the bum.
