Pickles being PTS

Just needed to talk to people who understand.Pickle is my 7 year old guinea pig who had haypoke and was put on eye drops but the eye got worse so I got her an appointment at the cat and rabbit clinic and she was put on zithromax.It was about 5 days after she'd been on it that I noticed she wasn't really eating her hay and the next day realised she wasn't interested in any food so started with syringe feeding and got her seen at c&r again.Simon said he thought it was the zithromax that had caused her loss of appetite and to carry on with the syringe feeding.She didn't appear to be swallowing it yesterday and this morning is still the same and I think she's had enough now so I've asked my friend to take her to be PTS as I can't bear to see her so sad,hes just taken her.I called in sick to work cos didn't wanna be there crying all day.I'm absolutely heartbroken.
 
Letting them go is one of the hardest things we have to do :( Pickle has had a great life with you, and she knows that better than we ever do. :hug:It hurts, but you could do no more, and that's 100% okay. Hard, but okay.
 
Sending you hugs, I'm so sorry. You have done everything you can for Pickles, letting her go before she suffers is so hard but really is the kindest thing for her.

I am so sorry about Pickles Gem, sometimes no matter what we do it just isn’t enough. treasure your memories, she had a wonderful happy long life with you. Care great care of yourself x

Thanks everyone,I know I've made the right decision but it's just so hard.Work annoyed me earlier,I had a message from the supervisor asking if I can come in after she'd been put to sleep as it's really busy.I nearly texted back are you joking? But didn't and just said I'm too upset to come in.
 
I'm so sorry 😞 Pickles has got to a very good age, maybe it's just her time and she's had enough. Of course saying goodbye to her is upsetting, but helping her on her way to the bridge is doing her a kindness.

I’m sorry about lovely Pickles ……what an amazing little piggy and clearly loved
Pickles was living her best life ever with you and that’s all we can ever do
She’s trusts you to make the best decisions for her and you have all thru her life
It’s very hard and you know that having animals in our lives does mean making those tough decisions
Everyone here understands and we’re all hugging you to comfort and support you

Oh Gemma - I am so sorry. It's the decision none of us ever want to make, but it really is the kindest thing we can do for those we love who are suffering. I know how hard it is to say goodbye. You have loved her enough to want to end her suffering. Huge hugs. Take your time x
 
Gemma, i am so very sorry to read this sad news. I know what a hard decision it is to make but it comes from your love for her that you can decide to let her go. Pickle has had a great life with you and has had lots of happy piggy days. It is a testament to your love and care that she is 7 years old. Sending you a big hug.xx
 
I'm so sorry you have had to make that devastating desicion.you gave Pickles a life full of love, its never easy,but you put Pickles needs above yours.which is unconditional love.take care.xx

Having a bad day today,can't stop crying but I know it will get easier from past experience.I just feel so guilty having her PTS and think did I do enough?
 
Oh Gemma. Big hugs. It’s always a natural reaction to wonder if we could or should have done more. But you have made the kindest decision out of love for her. Just go easy on yourself.

This is a perfectly normal grief reaction.
You did everything possible and gave Pickle that greatest gift of love.
It’s just so hard on your heart.
Be gentle with yourself.
