I have just (2 weeks ago) become the slave to a beautiful boy named Eddie. He is sort of a rescue, although his previous owners were good to him. They just couldn't keep him. He'd been living in a cage along with 2 females and (surprise) one had babies and the other is very very pregnant. I have Eddie and wife number 2, and wife number 1 and the female baby live next door to me with my daughter. Sorry for the long post, but I was wondering whether Eddie was just picky with his food or whether the fact that he hadn't been given veggies was the reason. The females are younger and much more prepared to try new food, but Eddie refuses anything apart from carrot and looks positively insulted when I try to introduce him to something new.

Welcome to the forum.

Guinea pigs learn to eat from other piggies.
I suggest that if Eddie is living with a sow they will learn to eat veggies if you introduce small bits of something new like a chunk of cucumber or a sprig of coriander.
There is helpful information in the information threads regarding feeding.

if I understand correctly you have a pregnant sow.
That’s another issue.
If Eddie is intact you will need to get him neutered so he can live with his wife.

Sorry - forgot to mention that Eddie is booked for neutering on Tuesday (22nd). He is now eating butter lettuce so I will persevere with other veggies. Thanks for the help.

Remember the 6 week wait until he can safely be put with a sow or more 👍
