Picky Spud!

Trying to get Spud to eat his veggies is difficult! He’s had a check up at the vets, and everything is fine health wise, he’s just extremely selective with his veg. Loves his hay, though. It just gets tiring having to pick up bits of veg that he’s removed from his bowl and left lying about his cage.

Things he won’t touch/isn’t keen on:
- Bell peppers
- Cauliflower leaves
- Spinach (doesn’t get it very often)
- Leafy greens (unless dandelions)
- Kale
- Celery
- Broccoli
- Mini tomatoes

Things he likes:
- Hay
- Carrots
- Sweet potato
- Sweetcorn
- Those mini sweet peppers (Lidl do little cartons of them)
- Dandelions

I get worried when my piggies don't eat there veg. . but I know i over feed them so worry not.

My boy is the same

He gets all excited when I put fruit/ veg in their cage and then just looks at it like “what is this?”... So far the only fresh things he actually DOES eat are all the real sugary treats (apple, blueberry, grape- which they hardly get) and lettuce

sometimes he’ll begrudgingly accept cucumber... my girl on the other hand seems to eat anything. Including the correx in their cage and the wooden ramp!

Not too worried. He’s quite a small pig, so it might just be I’m giving him slightly too much.

Your girl sounds like my other boy! He’ll eat anything and everything! Spud doesn’t get overly excited about food (unless it’s sweetcorn - never refuses that!), but will select what he wants, then ignore the rest!

Have you tried cucumber and coriander? Also lettuce (except iceberg). They’re like children with their picky behaviour! Though I can’t help but laugh at him taking it out the bowl and leaving it aside

Yep, tried both. Don’t think he likes the smell of coriander (though he’ll eat parsley), and won’t touch cucumber. Lettuce he’s picky with. Yeah, he’ll take something out, nibble it (or not), then just leave it.
