Plus a couple of Rocky with Dakota and Faith that were too cute not to share.

We got litter pans for the guinea pigs last Saturday. They've been using them rather well and taken to them quite naturally. Of course they're not 100% at using them but I don't ever expect them to be but I did hope that they would deposit the majority of their waste in the pans to keep their cages cleaner overall. I'd say they're leaving about 70-75% of their waste in the litter pans so I am quite happy with the new installments! :D I think the piggy's are too as they love jumping in and out of them! lol

The girls' first introduction to the litter pan.
Oh, what's this?

Minnie decides to be the daring one and jump in first.

Jasmine was still unsure about it. lol

But she finally took the plunge.

Now the girls practically fight over who gets to be in the litter pan! Faintly reminds me of my sister and I always hogging the bathroom in our teens! lol

And Rocky, with his bold personality, jumped right in!

For being such a good boy and going in his litter pan, Mommy gave him a treat to reinforce his great behavior! :D

And Rocky with Dakota...

...and with Faith! This was just too cute! lol

AWWW - that last picture is just soo sweet! x) x) x)
You've got a really lovely bunch of piggies there!

I have introduced litter pans lately as well with about a similar success rate.

Really? How long have you had litter pans for yours? Do you have pics posted of yours? I'm new to the litter pan thing but I really wanted something to keep their cages cleaner and so far it is keeping the cages a lot cleaner which means less time and work for me cleaning cages every day. :))

Love your photos, especially the last one! it's obvious who's wearing the trousers in that relationship. It reminds me of my lil Pickwick and my parents' Emie (a pyrenean sheppard).

I don't use litter trays although Frank always does his business behind his gay purple pigloo... He's very house proud!:))

I have not tryied the litter pan yet.I don't think mine would use it though.I love the pics they are so sweet I really love the ones with the doggies.

What beautiful photos they are. Really gorgeous! I love the doggy / piggy ones the most.

I have one litter tray that does get used purely because it's filled with hay. It catches alot but not enough (certainly not 70% or more). Maybe I ought to have another one. There is another favourite spot in the cage they go - that could be the answer. Two like you have.

very very cute pic of the ginny and chi, i think the husky had the air of i could eat you if i wanted look lol, good luck on your litter training

You piccies are so good! Esp the ones with your dogs in aswell :)

I like your litter trays, they are nice and bright. I've just ordered one but its just dark.

:)p

Thanks for all the replies and nice comments. My piggies have two places in their cages that they tend to eliminate in the most. So I got pans to put in each corner that they use the most and it really has worked out so well. To get them to go in their litter pans though I put all their hay in the pans since they excrete where they eat. So they have subsequently served a dual purpose, they keep the hay AND waste contained and keep their cages that much cleaner. :)

The second from last picture is like a staring competition, have your dogs grown up with he guinea pigs? When I go back to my farm and take my guinea pigs, my farm dog is obsessed with them and just watched them constantly without moving for hours. He does this when there are baby chickens too, we're not sure if he would attack if he could since both the guinea pigs and baby chickens are in cages. He doesn't attack the full grown chickens/lambs or cats so I don't know. heh.

No, neither of the dogs grew up with guinea pigs. Both were introduced to guineas when they were adults. Our sibe took a few weeks to teach that the guineas are not food. :)

ahhh great photos and your dogs are so cute and very well behaved.my pigd use the litter tray as a food bowl so i give up!lol

Aww, that last photo is just too cute! Gorgeous piggies and doggies!

Lovely photos, especially the ones of dogs and piggies! Good to hear the litter trays are working well for you. :)
