I'm going to make my Damon a piggy cushion for him to lounge around on, and I picked up some gorgeous fabric today!

Oooo I LOVE YOUR SOCK MONKEYS! :)) :)) If your selling any ill buy one for the OH's christmas box :)) they're fabulous! :)

For now I'm just doing cloth no filling

Your best using wadding, or teddy bear stuffing bought from Haberdasheries/online or if you have a Boyes Store in town they sell it too if your making say four or five large cushions you'll need around half a meter and then you have plenty left over for extras :)

Or a cheaper alternative is to stuff it with scrap materliel although this will make it bunch up in the wash.

Aww thankyou! I'm setting up my website soon etc so I shall make a thread as soon as it's all sorted and I've got it up and running. Thank you so much :D!

I have been looking at sewing machines today, nothing too elaborate mallethead as I'm determined to make some new pen cushions. The wadding is cheap on ebay so thought I'd give it a go with all the lovely fabrics around.
Hoping to do some 'summer' pads for them out of some funky colours in cool cotton.
An old hand sewing machine would be my option to start with - the times I've been offered them is unreal. Never had the need rolleyes but with having the piggies now could have fun making their stuff.

See I'm lucky, my mum has just bought a new sewing machine and I've gladly taken her old one off her hands :)) xo

I got mine as a pressie from tesco, its a Toyota Jeans (for thick fabric...like wadding! :)) ) its fab i love it to bits! :))

I know that Moonfruit is pretty good, and it's either free or £8 a month :) so pretty cheap compared to some out there.
And also there's bigcartel which is american but it doesn't really matter, I know you can get free and I'm not sure off the top of my head how much a month it is :)

Them are the one's I'd recommend anyway, and then you have like ebayshops, etsy and folksy :) xo

Is this the one you have?

I keep looking at machines and trying to decide if I can justify spending the money. If I can pay for one with clubcard vouchers then I'll be a happy bunny.
How many layers of fleece/ wadding can you sew through with your machine?

These are a couple of my favourite fabric suppliers

Thats the one its utterly brilliant handels wadding wonderfully, the dog feet dont seem to catch so much on the wadding fibers too. Easy to use, lots of stitch choices too choose from. Ohh and its a side loading bobbin if your not used to them (i wasnt!) its really easy to get the hang of.

I can get 8oz wadding and two layers of fleece underneath the needle, though i could probs get 8oz and a 6oz wadding under it too theres plenty of space to move, and add layers.

:)

Thankyou.
I haven't used an electric machine since I was at school and my main memory is of sewing through my finger. I have my grandma's hand singer machine here and am still trying to cope with the shuttle bobbin in that. Good job there are instructions for such things. :)
