Why didn't anyone warn me that Guinea Pigs are like Pringles, you can never have just a few?!

I found this lovely black and white girl on the rescue webpage who needs more than one girlfriend and a furry man companion. Guess what? I have a neutered furry man and two girlies... So I wrote the rescue lady asking for reasons why I shouldn't take the little one (or lady, rather, she's four) and got absolutely no useful arguments back. Just reassurances that this wee one would make my life complete. Sigh.

My issue is that I live in a city three train hous away from my home town and I need to bring them ther on occation. But four guineas can fit in two cat carriers, right?

So I guess I only need to get my mum and sister with me on the idea...

AWWW - she is lovely!

As an alternative, you could also look at a small dog carrier bag to carry them all together for travel.

The best way I found is to feed them up just before you set off, so they will be sleepy for most of the way. Make sure that you have some soft hay (nothing they can get hurt on when they are jumbled around a bit) and a bit of cucumber to nibble on. If you travel at night, keep them covered, as sudden flashes of light can scare them. In hot weather, you will need a bottle of frozen water wrapped in a towel.

Seriously can I have her, she is just gorgeous! x)x)! She is a must! I can't wait to see the pictures :)!

I think pig flu is a side effect of frequenting this forum! it is almost a viral infection everyone has got!

Don't I know the symptoms only too well - I had just two guinea pigs when I joined earlier this year! :)):)):))

Yeah, I meant to get boys too but then they didn't have any available when I wanted to adopt. Had I known what two girls and a fixed boy could lead to I would have waited... But she is cute and seems really sweet and tame and she needs a home. I think I'll just write that rescue lady again...

Good thread title!

What a gorgeous girl, makes me think of a mixture of my Humbug and Sally.

Thats what you all think in the beginning I have two and thats me done (I was in that camp too!), you may still catch pig flu, you will just see the cutest wee face that will tug at you heart strings and boom, you have more piggies than you could of dreamed of!

I think those that have two boars opposed to two sows are less likely to catch this infection, but you never know!
