Hello guys,
on saturday i noticed, that my pig is not as active as usual, also was eating less then normal. On sunday he stoped eating completely and was only laying in cage whole day. So on monday i went to the vet and i found out that my pig has cold. He got some antibiotics with injection and i was hand feeding him with syringe since then. I got some "Recovery for herbivores" from vet. Well, he doesnt start eating so on wednesday i went to vet again. They made him x-ray and he had some "pouch" under his back tooth. They put him asleep and pull out the tooth. Also, becouse he wasnt eating, his bottom front teeth had to be shortened. I am still feeding him and he is not loosing weight, but he is still not eating. Do you guys have some tips, how to make him eat again? .... yeah and i forgot, he is also not pooping from monday.

I am going to tag our dental expert @furryfriends (TEAS) in case she is online at all. Did the vet prescribe any pain relief and is he on any medication for the respiratory infection?

Has your vet checked the pouch for a potential abscess and is your boy on painkillers?

It is not at all uncommon that a guinea pig after dental treatment is not eating because it is all sore. It takes experience to get the dental system rebalanced fully if a guinea pig is not chewing evenly and it usually takes several after-treatments to rebalance a system once the cause has been addressed. Guinea pigs have the fastest growing teeth of all rodents because they have evolved on a silica rich diet, which is very abrasive. Teeth can overgrow again in a matter of a week or two.

There are more foods you can feed your dental guinea pig although fibre should make over 80% of the daily food intake to keep the guts going well. Try mushed up pellets, pureed or finely grated veg.
We have got a chapter on caring for dental guinea pigs in our syringe feeding guide: Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Ye, he got some injection agains respiratory infection on monday and thuesday and he is also getting painkillers and antibiotics by syringe feeding. When i feed him, he is chewing the syringe. I also gave him leaf of basil and he ate it, but doesnt eat fibre or pellets
