My boyfriend was putting our guinea back in his cage and he jumped and hit the ground pretty hard from about 4 feet up. I can't see anything wrong, he is eating and walking around normally, but I'm in tears with worry. It's night here si there's no vets open. I don't know what to do.

Is he eating okay?

Hurting their legs and teeth are the main concerns when they jump/fall.

Yes, he is munching hay as we speak. I checked his front teeth and they appeared intact.

If he's eating, walking and behaving as is normal for him then just keep an eye, do check his teeth again in a few days as sometimes they break below the gum line or the fracture is to tiny to see. About 2 weeks ago one of my boys fell out of his hutch about 3 foot down and landed right on his nose. He did break a tooth, which had snapped below the gum line, so it wasn't until a few days later that I noticed his tooth was broken. Thank fully as long as there is not damage to the root or jaw then teeth grow back super fast.
We've all at some point accidentally dropped a pig, or maybe not supervised well enough and they have had a fall. It happens unfortunately, so please don't feel to guilty!

As @Jaycey says, it's legs and teeth that usually get injured in a fall, and there can also be back trouble. If he's moving OK then the legs and back should be OK. With teeth you may find there is a break below the gumline so in a few days, as the teeth grow, they may end up falling out. If this does happen you may need to chop up veg a bit smaller for a few day until the teeth grow and can grind together again. Keep an eye on him. x

Please have him checked when the vets are open or as soon as there are signs of deterioration/limping or pain. But you are likely to get away with it, so please take a deep breath and calm down. It very much depends on how he has landed. If he had time to prepare for the landing, he may well have escaped without any Problems - which it sounds like. ;)

Please ask your partner to either put a Guinea pig back in the Cage bum first (so it can't see it) or use a conveyance like we recommend. Piggies have a bad Habit of jumping back and misjudging the distance. It is one of the common occasions for accidents.
How To Pick Up And Weigh Your Guinea Pig

Thank you everyone, I got up several times last night to check on him and he seems to be doing well. He popcorns and walks around his cage. He is still eating normally. I've done a full body check and he doesn't cry out or anything when I touch any part of his body. I've talked to my boyfriend about backing him into his cage next time also, he feels really bad about this, but my piggy is definitely a jumper so I know the struggle too.

I feel for you. Many years ago when I got my first two pigs Bumble jumped out my arms on to the patio. There was so much blood I was nearly sick with the stress of it. Turns out she grazed her nose and broke the tooth under the gum line (after a couple of days it fell out but grew back without any problems). I got her checked by my vet and she had metacam for a few days incase any pain stopped her eating but after that was right as rain (well as right as she could be - she was always a little bit backwards).

I would try and get to the vets tomorrow for peace of mind and maybe a few days pain relief
