My sow, baby pig is struggling to walk.Shes limping hen she tries to get around.I couldn't work out why she was limping then remembered earlier that I heard her squeak loudly when she was in her fleece tunnel.I was using a plastic mesh type thing inside at the top to keep it held up.She must have caught her foot or leg on one of the holes in the plastic.Ive chucked it in the bin as I don't want any of the other pigs hurting themselves.Ive gave baby pig some metacam.do you think it will be ok to wait till Monday for a vet visit and is it possible she could have a sprain?
She's also a heavy pig so I imagine that wouldn't help as well.

Is she eating? Can she put any weight on the foot? She will need vets to rule out any break etc.... Hopefully just a sprain. Continue with metacam until you get her there it will help with pain and anti inflammatory. I would not wait until Monday.

She's eating some veg but doesn't seem as keen as normal and she's struggling to put weight on it.

She really needs to see a vet. Do you know your emergency one nearby?

Yes my emergency vet is in Northampton.Do you think they'll X-ray her?
I would imagine they would need to yes, to see what is going on with the leg/foot

And in the short term (before you see a vet) I would keep her in a small space, so you can monitor her food intake and also output.
We use the laundry basket (lined with fleece and covered with a towel) in emergencies.

I mirror TEAS advice. One of my boys hurt one of his front legs. I don't know how, but I think he twanged it somehow standing up at the bars of his cage.

Because he had other issues i wanted him to be seen by Kim, so had to wait a few days.

I kept a very close eye on him to make sure he was eating, peeing and pooping okay. If there were any signs of decline then I would have taken him to the emergency vet.

In the past I've left them in a normal size cage unless they seem to be struggling to walk/run, then I would reduce the size and make sure food, bed and water is all clpae by.

Thanks all, I was considering the emergency vet but had no way of getting there so she's been moved to a cage in my room with her friends so I could keep an eye on her.Ive been giving 0.3ml of dog metacam as she's a heavy pig.She seems better today, she ate some cucumber and hay and Ive syringed some water into her but she's got a bowl of it too.She was even cleaning herself this morning.I'm gonna see if I can swap my shifts at work tomorrow so I can take her to the vets.
