My Guinea pig Milton was in a cage with his friend who had a URI. I heard him sniffle twice and I'm worried because his friend died from the URI. He is going to the vet Friday. I'm really busy this week but if it was really important maybe I could bring him tomorrow. Will he be okay until Friday? I have some of his friends medicine from when he had the URI but idk if I could use the same dosage and everything....

Is he going to be okay? We got the appointment for Thursday.

I wouldn’t recommend using the same medicine. He should be ok until Friday. If you’re really worried, you could rush him to the vet tomorrow. Is he eating and drinking?

Hi, please do not medicate your guinea pig without a diagnosis and prescription of the correct dosage. However you may want to take your left over medication to the vets appointment. If the vet was looking to prescribe the same meds and it's still in date then they should be able to tell you the dosage without you having to pay for more meds assuming there's enough in there.

Please see this group of guides about how quickly to see a vet, bridging advice while you wait for the vets appointment and syringe feeding guide if necessary. Please switch to weighing daily at the same point in the feeding cycle as this is the best way to monitor that he is getting enough food. You can offer syringe feeding or mushed up pellets in a bowl to encourage him to keep eating.

If there is a further deterioration in your piggy please call your vets as an emergency to get him seen straight away

Thanks everyone:) he turned out to be fine and he is all set. I think he was mostly just depressed from all his friends passings. He got new friends now and it's all good!
