Hi all

I'm new here so please bear with me. We have a lovely little pig called crunchie who is normally very excited and vocal when we are around, however since Thursday night he's not been himself, he hadn't been out of his hide and wasn't really eating (only hay) or drinking, I managed to get him to eat some by hand feeding him sme veg and a few pellets. I took him to the vets today who checked him over and send he seemed fine but did squeak a little when she pressed his tummy but she didn't seem overly concerned about it, she has prescribed him ranitidine (twice a day) and some painkillers (once a day) and monitor him for the next 48 hours she seems to think he'll pick up,he has had a few pellets, couple of carrot sticks and a tiny bit of cucumber since this afternoon and I have managed to syringe home some water in too. Anyone got any advice on how to get him eating/drinking and how to look after a poorly pig?

I would step in with syringe feeding too, here is our guide Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

I have a pig that won't eat at the moment too, and I am just trying to tempt him with whatever I think he will like.

If he is on Ranitidine the vet may think he is gassy, so you could also try Woodwards gripe water if that is the case, I dose at 0,3ml every few hours.

Thank you. I did the same by getting all his favourites in, He is eating little bits, funnily enough have just put him back in his hutch with some kale and he has started eating some of it by himself, and he has been eating his hay too, he is normally quite a greedy piggy tho so normally eats more than he has and think that's why I've panicked so much. I have read the syringe feeding guide last night, as he has been eating bits and has just munched some kale would you still recommend this tonight? I have cleaned his hutch out so I can check he's pooing and he has, and I know he's weeing as he got me ;)
I hope your piggy starts eating again too.
