Hi all. My piggie Jesse (see the Jesse Has Pneumonia thread) is bring hand fed, is on antibiotics and isn't eating so we're syringing Critical Care and probiotic-infused water around the clock. Thing is, its super hard to get him swallowing. Have read loads of syringe-feeding guides and they say to put the syringe far back enough to force him to chew. We're struggling. I'm going in the side behind his incisors and a bit further but no luck. Sometimes after letting him have a rest, there's still food in his mouth, or water. Any tips? We're using a 1ml syringe with end then off. Scared to aspirate him by putting syringe in too far but his appetite seems shot. Just want to give my little man the best chance of recovering! Thanks in advance for any tips at all. He's pretty lethargic so not fighting against me at all which I guess is a bonus.

It is worrying that he doesn't seem to want to chew it and I am wondering if it is because his breathing is still bad. Does he take fluids ok?
