Dollyx
Junior Guinea Pig
Pigeon got her bottom incisor extracted back in November, and it has grown back. That is the first thing that confuses me, because I did not expect it to grow back. Furthermore, it's growing back weird, and I have no other words to describe it but weird and kind of sideways? I've talked with my vet about it and they aren't concerned with how it's looking, it's just until it starts becoming red and with pus is when they say it's a concern. Luckily it is nothing of the sorts. However, Pigeon eats very slow. At first it made sense because she was down 1 tooth, so I made accommodations with her food for that, until recently she's just been too slow with eating. Because Dolly, my other pig, is on metacam for her arthritis, I was able to give Pigeon one normal dose of the pain medicine to see how she eats while on that. And she's eaten very quickly with it, just as quick as before the tooth extraction(earlier she ate lettuce so slowly that Dolly came and finished the rest of it, prompting me to test how she does on the pain medicine) But Pigeon has not lost any weight (thankfully), so I am even more confused with this. But obviously that weird tooth, or whatever else, is causing her pain and or discomfort, right?
Has an extracted tooth like this grown back for anyone else's piggies? I've always seen how some piggies live missing 1, 2 or even more incisors, so I'm just confused on why Pigeon's grew back. And a little annoyed as the spendy tooth extraction has caused another spendy problem if this new tooth is really causing her pain/discomfort. I'll be calling the vet either way in the morning, just wanted to see anyone's input on this.
