Piggie Facebook Group!

I decided it would be nice to join a Facebook group about piggies! Mostly to see the cute pigtures! But I can't believe how uninformed the people on there are! I don't mean to offend anyone who might also be on there!

I keep commenting because I just can't not say! There's unsafe issues with hay racks, people are asking how fleece works and then others commenting that you don't need to put anything under fleece. People don't know what c&c cages are and many more things! I worry about the poor piggies!

I know people have to start somewhere and I've no problem with newbies asking questions on here! I think the problem is, it's not just newbies, theres piggie owners giving newbies bad advice.

It just shows, we have a lot of caring, intelligent, piggie parents on here!
 
This would make me annoyed, and if I were you, I'd leave the group, it would make me so stressed!

I would tell them the correct info once, but after that it is like getting blood out of a stone.

I noticed this too when I joined 2 pages. You try and inform people and you get your head bitten off. On one of the pages it states in the rules that you are not allowed to tell people that what they are doing is wrong. I have seen pictures of piggies squeezing through a toilet roll tubes and loads of people commented saying it wasn't funny and it was cruel and we all got called bullies because we had said that!
 
Facebook groups are notoriously bad, i'm in loads but not worth commenting as always someone whose had 2 minutes experience and thinks they know it all think they know better then you. The other day someone was feeding a rabbit a walnut whip and someone said thats bad, got accused of bullying go figure...
 
Yep there are some absolutely diabolical ones on there and it makes me so mad I have to avoid them.
 
I've joined a couple but just look at the picture more than anything, I can't be bothered with disagreements and whatever else
 
One said they just rescued a pig, they were told it was male to go with the male she had. But her pig was humping the new one, so it must be female! Everyone was saying how bad it was & to take it back! They didn't seem to know they were working out who is top pig!

I have now left the page! I'll stick with TGF!
 
I don't bother myself with them. They will never come close to us! (yes, I'm slightly biased, but I'm sure you'll all agree ;) )
 
... it just makes me concerned about how many animals there are out there being inappropriately looked after .
 
I too joined two Facebook piggie pages, I have now unfollowed them. Like you say the advise they give out was awful, dressing guinea pigs up, really ripping into people if they said something against them. The last stray was when I posted my new piggie pen. One member said I had two many toys in it and it was way too small. It's 8 foot by 4 foot for my two boys . I have two of everything. I am a bad piggie owner apparently. Xx
