Could I ask if a few members could take some photo of their guinea pigs feet?
I want to see if my guinea pig has some health problems with his feet but I'm too scared to google it because of unwanted photos....

The underfoot or side of the feet is the part I am worried about. I already checked my second guinea pigs feet and he doesn't seem to have these small little lumps that my other guinea pig does. I'm wondering if its normal or if I should take him to the vets.

I'll try and get a photo. It's a bit awkward to balence the piggie and Camera.

Just a mo.

He does have dry feet I've been trying to cure him with but I noticed this whilst doing his feet.

It's his front paw right? What is it that concerns you? It looks okay to me, maybe one nail is a tiny bit long, but hopefully someone else will give a more expert opinion soon though :)

It's on about 3 of the feet. It concerns me as its weird little dry lumps. He doesn't like if I touch them either.

My main concern is that it may be causing discomfort for him.

Are you talking about the little pads under his toes, & the ball of his foot? I think like humans they probably all have slightly different feet! Can you get a pic underneath the foot more? (Well done on getting such tricky pics though!)

If you mean those little brown lumps, aren't they poop? :) When you bath him they will just fall off :))

Well he just had a bath yesterday so I'm not sure if its poop. (As it was there before and after)
I'm really not sure what it all is. ^^; I thought it was warts or something like humans got.

I'm not sure he'd want me to take any more pics. Poor dear. I've fussed with him so much today. He started complaining. :))

Lol! Try putting his foot in some nice warm water for a few minutes, then just gently (don't pull) rub the brown bits with your thumb & if the water goes brown it's dried poop & should just wear off in time :)

Thanks! I'll try that. Hopefully it just comes off. I don't want to hurt or upset him. He's such a good boy. He doesn't fight or anything. =)

My piggies feet are very smooth but I'm guessing all piggies feet are different? Your piggies feet do look a bit scabby but that might be poop, its hard to tell from the pic. Maybe someone else more experienced will be able to answer your questions.

My girlie had scabby poop on her paws a lot, mind you she used to lie down then poop at the same time dirty beggar lol! :))

How did it go when you put his foot in water? His nails are too long as they are curling a bit. Hope you do not mind me saying that.

Oh I don't mind at all. I emailed someone a week ago who was going to cut their nails for me but no reply yet. I'm tempted to take them to the vet if I don't get a reply as I'd like their claws cut and I can't do them myself.

I haven't put his foot in water today. I plan to do it tomorrow. The water is off at the moment. =)

The thickened skin on the sole of the foot looks like spurs to me- some guinea pigs just get them, similar to some people being more prone to getting calluses on their feet. You can trim them back if your pig co-operates (my pig with spurs makes such a production about it that it's much easier just to leave them alone as they don't bother her!) I have two pigs in the same environment, one gets spurs and the other never has. Interestingly, the two pigs that I've had who got spurs have both been predominantly white with pink paws- my brown-pawed piggie never gets them, but I'm not sure if that's simply a coincidence. HTH!

That's weird as my two white piggies never had them but both my Rexes did lol!

:))

He's a pretty good piggie so he might let me do it. He'll whine a bit but he doesn't really squirm or fight back. =)
