Hi

I need some advice!

I have had my 2 piggies (Trixie & Treacle) from around 8 weeks old & had them for around 6 months now. Me & my boyfriend picked one each from the shop but I think we made a mistake as we obviously picked 2 piggies from 2 different litters.

@ 1st Trixie was slightly older & we were convinced she was going to be the dominant one. She did boss Treacle around & hog the food but i made sure i put 2 separate portions @ each end of the cage for them so it was not that much of an issue.

I would say they have never been overly fond of each other - when out they do chase each other around sometimes but recently this is happening less & less.

As time has gone on Treacle has taken over the dominance role & i feel she is bullying Trixie. Treacle constantly rumbles & sways on her back legs around the cage & tries to stop Trixie getting around. Its not that she is on heat & only does it every now & again - its everyday! She also puts her bum in Trixies face & sometimes squirts something. Trixie still has the upper hand over the food slightly as she eats so fast. They have floor time every evening so do get a chance to get away from each other.

Trixie seemed fine with this @ first & jsut got on with it but I have noticed over the last 2 weeks she looks sad & has not been herself. I have not seen her popcorn in a while & worry she is being bullied?

Apart from the odd squeak back there has not been any real fighting & no blood has been drawn. Its just more bullying i think.

Should i separate them? I have read on loads of forums that unless the fighting is really bad & blood is drawn you should leave them be but when Trixie looks @ me sometimes i feel like she is saying help me!

Any advise gratefully appreciated.

Suzy

Hi love, have you thought about maybe getting them both checked up at the vets? Maybe little Trixie is being bullied...... you may have to consider separating for eating etc..... ?
Wishing you lots of luck i hope you can sort things out XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Yes i think i will take them to the vets today :)

Also going to order then a new cage :) see if extra space will sort it out as i really dont want to separate them.

Thanks for the help :)
