I am a nervous wreck:(
My 18month old black satin piggie is currently undergoing bladderstone removal surgery. I am in bits worrying about him8...
He seems in good health (other then the pain when peeing/pooping), so fingers crossed, he'll be OK.

Oh I am sorry to hear this. My little one had the same operation and is a satin. She was fine although sore afterwards. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Aw big hugs! I'm so sorry, its a terrifying time for us. However i am sure all will be just fine and he will be back with you before you know it.

xx

I am sorry to hear this; bladder stones are not a nice thing! I find the wait during the operation the worst bit of it all!

It would be good to have the stone analysed and the diet adjusted accordingly to whether it is calcium carbohydrate or oxalate based to help prevening another one from forming once your piggy is out of the danger zone.

Aww I'm sure everything will be fine, but it's always worrying when a fur-baby needs something doing x

My Patrick had bladder surgery 2 weeks ago and recovered well. Healing vibes I know just how you are feeling. x

He's home. Feeling a bit dopey and sorry for himself though. He's eating well too :-)

My Harley had a stone the size of a pea last summer - I was in absolute pieces and took time off work to look after him :...
Always worth asking your vet about Cystease capsules, it coats the bladder wall and helps prevent any nasties building up. We have the 125mg caps and give Harley a quarter per day along with some unsweetened Cranberry juice diluted in his water bottle which he loves.
Sending gentle hugs and healing vibes to your little man :laluot_29: These bloomin stones are a nightmare :(

Sorry, paranoid question now..
He seems to be trying to poo, but not being successful
He's stuffing his face with food still
Should I be worried, or am I being over cautious?

Thank you

Panic over - he's pooped :-)

I found my pig was very up and down after surgery, I would syringe feed him to ensure he is eating enough.

Glad he's eating. :)

Thanks everyone for you kind thoughts
He seems a bit better today, although there have been a few squeaks when pooing this afternoon, but that could be because the metacam has worn off?

Patrick cried for 10days after surgery, that was with pain killer.

Once again, thank you all :-)
He seems much better today, and has had a post-op check up at the vets this morning.
It was just one stone (coral-type, about 6mm), no crystals found during the op

1 month on....

Hello
Thanks all for your support when Tubbs was unwell last month. The stone was found to be calcium carbonate.
However, it seems we have a problem.....
He has starting squeaking when weeing again, and there is blood in his wee, have only just noticed this tonight.
Is it possible the stone has re-grown in a month? Or could it just be a UTI?
Any thoughts or advice are very welcome.

Either is possible I guess.

Can you pop him along to the vet armed with a urine sample? They'll be able to test it for infection and treat accordingly. If nothing else, he needs pain relief at least.

Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear this :(

I agree with Amanda it could be either an infection or a stone has reformed, only your vet can tell you.
Fingers crossed it's not another stone.
